❝ late to the party, as per usual. ❞ this time, it’s a male’s voice amidst the static. alex kyung is NOT as relaxed in front of the microphone as his female counterparts. something about the big red light that says ‘ ON AIR ’ makes him uneasy. ❝ this is alex, live from... well, i’m not going to give that away, am i? ❞ there’s a pause and he clears his throat. ❝ i don’t have any breaking news — which i guess is good news, since it means all of you’ve managed to stay alive since tina checked in last— but i do have a weather report. the sun is shining, and it’s a beautiful day, all things considered. do bundle up if you plan on heading out ; it’s getting chilly, and frostbite won’t help you survive. till next time, folks. ❞

a CLUMSY press of a button triggers the low static of the microphone, pulsating through the radio. there’s a nervous clearing of one’s throat, an accidental bump of the mic causing a high pitched streams of reverb and feedback. ❝ sorry, guys, ❞ her voice is soft, apologetic, and gentler than the previous. ❝ god, my mom would think this is so kick ass. ❞ the words are soft, an after thought. & then there’s a pause, silence fills the air. ❝ oh, right. okay, everyone. this is valentina, but you can call me val. or tina. A N Y W A Y S, like aubrey said — we are your guide to living in this world. we are your eye in the sky, or something like that, and i PROMISE to do my best in helping each and every one of you. we’re on your side. ❞ 

a C R A C K L I N G, hideous sound infiltrates the airwaves; the grumbling sound of civilization lost. but not lost. here -- present. it’s been over a year since anything like it has been heard -- all broadcast systems had disappeared. UNTIL NOW.  through the threatening static, voices can be heard. ❝ no, you are N O T hallucinating, ❞ the voice, feminine and condescending says, ❝ we finally made this thing work -- who are we ? your damn saviors, that’s who. i’m aubrey -- i’ll be one of your little angels iin this shit hole we’ve all been thrown in. oh, yeah, i bet you feel VERY lucky to hear that. we’ll be reporting any information we can get our hands on -- weather conditions, undead status, provisions, oncoming threats and, my personal favorite, survivor gossip. if you ever need us -- and i certainly hope you won’t -- look towards the bay. you’ll find us. ❞
