Summer: I think you win in terms of fun getting to know each other activity adventures. 

River: Although the romance festival was still fun. You were right about the tea.

Summer: Yeah. I guess I was. 

Summer: What’s our next adventure? 

Joel: So we’re officially members of the Blue family. 

River: I mean technically we always have been, it’s only a name change.

River: But I get what you’re saying. It almost feels like a new era. A new chapter. Anything can happen.

Joel: Calm down, I didn’t mean it like that. Not so fake deep.

River jumped off the fence.

*insert poetic caption*

River fell back, laying on the stone pathway to look at the stars.

River: So now you know the most interesting thing about me. It gets worse from here.

Summer: I’m positive your self esteem is just shit. You’re more interesting than you think.

Summer layed next to her on the stone, she pulled River closer so she was laying on her. 

Summer: I hope you’re not creeped out with how touchy feely I am. 

Summer: The most interesting thing about me is that a girl in middle school once stopped talking to me because she thought I was weird for being too affectionate.

River: There’s gotta be something more interesting. A long lost sibling maybe?

Summer: Not to like, be nosy or anything but.. Why now? Like why didn’t they get married years ago? 

River: Well, their relationship, from what I’ve been told, was super weird for awhile.

River: To make it a long as story short, Joel and I were the result of failure in the pull out method--I’m only half kidding--My mom got pregnant in high school, they were only really fuck buddies so she ghosted him so she wouldn’t ruin his life.

River: Well, he fell in love with her over that time and tried to find where the fuck she’d gone, got into drugs, went to rehab. My grandma found her, they reconnected, he found out we existed and has been committed since.

River: They wanted to wait and make sure they weren’t rushing just for us. It didn’t matter to them whether they were married and it didn’t bother Joel or me so they just didn’t. 

Summer: Why’d you bring me here of all places? 

River: It’s my turn for the “get to know each other” adventure or whatever.

River: It’s my parent’s wedding tomorrow, this is the venue, you should come.

Summer: That’s--

River: Super last minute. I know, but this is just about the only interesting thing I could come up with. 

Summer: Alright. I’m down. They know about it though, right?? I don’t want to be a surprise guest that no one wanted.

Summer got off the bed and put a hand on River’s shoulder.

Summer: Honestly, you look hot.

River: !?!?!

Summer: I’m gonna go take Maxie out for y’all--I’m pretty sure Joel fell asleep.

Summer: Anyway get dressed and I’ll be back in like maybe seven minutes. 

River: You’re looking at me weird. Is it bad? If it’s bad my parents will slice me.

River: Please tell me it’s not bad.

Summer: It’s not. I just--I did better than I expected.

Summer: Just shower to get the hair off your neck.

River: Wait what are you staying in here??

Summer hops onto the sink. 

Summer: Yeah sure. Just get in, I won’t look.

River makes sure her eyes are closed before stripping.

River: I know there’s a curtain but this is still weird.

Summer: Look if this is weird I can wait in your room.
