WALKING WITH JUST MY PHONE
Often, nowadays, I feel Iβve just taken all the photos I can in my local area, in almost every possible weather and light conditions and Iβm inclined to leave my βgood cameraβ at home when I go out for a walk. But, being me, I still canβt resist taking a few more photos, although I am really not very impressed with the camera on my phone. But here is a selection of some of those photos; some ofβ¦

IN THE LIGHT OF AN EVENING
β Photos from an evening walk across two of my local beaches β CΓΊl Dorcha and BΓ©al BΓ‘n, in the Ballyferriter region of the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. Not my first photos from these beaches, some of you may notice and probably not the last, but as I have often said, conditions change and the same place can look very different. Β Light, tides, clouds, wind and water turbulence can all create aβ¦

GARDEN WANDERINGS
Here are some more photos from my garden. They are fairly random, depending on what shows itself to me as I wander about with my camera. Butterflies always attract my attention; theyβre a very attractive subject to capture, although they can be rather shy. This peacock would either pose with its wings closed or upside down β if it doesnβt fly away!Β Patience is needed. Often, when Iβm in theβ¦

WILDFLOWERS FROM A SEED PACKET (2)
Last year I wrote about my WILDFLOWERS FROM A SEEDΒ PACKET and posted many photos of the delightful flowers that graced my garden from that seed packet. I really looked forward to those flowers seeding themselves and popping up again this summer. But not everything goes according to plan in a garden, and only a few of those colourful specimens appeared this summer so far. However, itβs not all badβ¦

THE VILLAGE THAT WAS.... (2)
I love this walk, up a hill on one side of Croagh Mharhain. Β It leads to the site of the village that was built for the set of the film Ryanβs Daughter, released in 1970.Β I have written and posted photos about this walk a couple of years ago, see here. Actually I have these photos for a few months now, so they are slightly out of season. The walk up the hill has wonderful views of the Blasketβ¦

CLOGHER THRIFT
Here is one of many photos Iβve taken of Clogher Beach. This is a summery view β the water is calm and the sea thrift or sea pinks are growing on the left of the picture. Previous photos Iβve posted of this area were taken in different kinds of weather conditions, including some very wild weather. How different it can be! It really doesnβt seem so long since I posted photos of this walk with theβ¦

A CALM EVENING
I just love these long summer evenings. Itβs so nice to take a walk and be able to enjoy the warm sun up until after 10.00 pm. This is probably my most well trodden walk, being very near to home. So of course I have taken many, many photos here β so many, in fact that I often donβt bother to bring my camera with me any more. Then I often regret it! On this recent occasion, I did have my camera.β¦

VENICE 3
This is my 3rd and final post on Venice, unless, of course, if I return there some day!Β I mainly want to show the photos that I didnβt show in my previous posts, I donβt have a lot more to say. A beautiful entrance to a passage. Sotoportego porton dei mori. Iβve been trying to work out what this means. Iβve looked up both the Italian and Latin translations. Sotoportego apparently means passage,β¦

VENICE
β I feel I am probably one of the last people I know to visit Venice. I read many years ago that Venice was in a sad state of decay, and I knew I would have to get there before it disappeared. Thankfully, its demise is not as rapid as I thought from reading that item. Iβm happy to say that I finally did go there for a few days recently. My intention here was to capture this amazing place withβ¦

GALLERY MINUS 430
β Itβs nearly three months since my trip to Israel, and I have several more photos to show since my last post on the Shrinking Dead Sea. Finally, here are some photos from the Gallery Minus 430 near Kalia Beach, on the Dead Sea. This gallery, with a difference, is painted on old derelict buildings that have been uninhabited for over 40 years. The history of this village is somewhatβ¦

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Wishing a Very Happy New Year to all my followers, and thank you so much for your support during the past year and more. I hope 2023 bring peace and good health to all of you wherever you are. Ice patterns on an attic window. The photo is of ice patterns on an attic window in my home, a few weeks ago. The icy weather didnβt last long. The image is nowhere near as interesting and spectacular asβ¦

THE SHRINKING DEAD SEA
THE SHRINKING DEADΒ SEA
These photos are from a recent short trip to Israel, where I was visiting my son and his wife who live there. We did a lovely tour of the Dead Sea area, with visits to a number of archaeological sites and an opportunity to swim in the Dead Sea, followed by a couple of nights in Tiberias and some more hikes and historical sites in that region. The last time I visited the Dead Sea was almost 20β¦

WATER, WIND, LIGHT AND ROCKS
WATER, WIND, LIGHT ANDΒ ROCKS
β Clogher Beach is always a big draw when the weather is stormy. Not very many years ago the stormy weather would see a just a few painters and photographers out to brave the weather and capture the drama, but now you will be guaranteed to see several people out β even in November when there used to be so few people around. β β β These photos above focussed straight ahead from the car parkβ¦

ROCKS RULE
β This is Wine Strand, in Ballyferriter, on the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, in the South West of Ireland.Β I have shown many photos of this delightful little beach, which, (as I previously explained) is believed to have been named after the numbers of wine casks that washed up here when the Spanish Armada was shipwrecked off the west coast of Ireland in 1588. Itβs a perfect and picturesqueβ¦

WATER AND LIGHT
Just a few images of water taken at a local beach in very calm weather. There were gentle ripples on the surface of the water and combined with the sunlight and a little seaweed, these these lovely patterns were created. β β A short post this time. Back soon. Thanks for visiting.
