Their back must be sore from carrying the weight of Eurovision 2021
AND WHAT ABOUT IT
MĂĽneskin (Italy) after winning Eurovision Song Contest 2021 đłâđ
Tw: abuse, sexual harrassment, mention of rape
I have to start with saying that Mhairi McFarlane is a goddess of a writer! This is "only" the second book I read of hers but it has succeeded my expectations just as the first one. The story is such a sweet and warm tale that you so easily can relate to that it's almost scary. I love how witty it is while also adressing important issues such as feminism and abuse just to name a few. The whole story just makes you feel warm and good inside and I'm not going to lie: it most certainly will make you cry. I loved every word, every second I spent in that universe and I hate that it's already over (I couldn't pace myself as usual and finished this in one sitting sigh). If you are searching for a "easy" love story this might not be the book for you. Nevertheless, I think it is one of the most wonderful stories I have read so far and it's going straight up to my all time favourite booksâ¤

I read this gem in one sitting today (yeah I'm done with exams and have lots of free time to finally read all the books sitting on my drawer - in case you haven't noticed) and let me tell you it's seriously so good! I love how the both main characters have such strong chemistry already from the beginning. The whole story is a really sweet and beautiful love story and I love the ending so much! It wasn't what I expected which made it already ten times better!! It's extremely easy to fall in love with both Ben and Arthur and I definitively recommend you read this book. It has got everything you need from a sweet romance novel and I absoluetely adore itâ¤
so I just finished this and I wanted to share my thoughts on it bc I was really looking forward to reading this book! First of all the story is not as clichĂŠ as it sounds and that makes the book even more worthy to read. The characters Kasie West creates in this story are truly wonderful! I have no idea how she manages to add so many layers to a character on so few pages, it truly amazes me. The story is really heartwarming and sweet so it's a really good book to read when you're craving some of that sweet and easy going romance novel! The main character Lily is now my favourite person in the whole world, like seriously she is such a fun and relatable character and I really felt for her the whole story through. I'm definitively recommending this book to you and pls if anyone of you already had the pleasure of reading it, let me know what you think!!!

Re: Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and all other âFounding Fathersâ and historical figures who owned slaves
Fuck âEm
Listen to me, Tumblr, because apparently somewhere along the line a whole bunch of yall decided that we should just accept that whatever rich white people do as morally excusable if it happened a long enough time ago: owning slaves was evil.Â
Slavery was evil. Slave owners were evil. Even if it was legal, even if they inherited their slaves, even if they werenât as physically abusive as they could have been- all slave owners were evil.
Abolitionists existed in America before, during, and after the American Revolution. Folks KNEW. Folks knew that owning other human beings was evil. It wasnât fucking an unheard of idea that you shouldnât OWN PEOPLE.
Thomas Jefferson spent years raping a slave girl and then kept the resulting children as slaves. George Washington used the teeth of slaves to make his own dentures. This is not âproduct of their timeâ wishy washy nonsense. This is not âWell, EVERYONE was doing itâ like drinking their cocaine and canning their food with lead.Â
So yes, when you see someone pulling down a statue of Robert E Lee, or that sucking slave trader in Bristol, or Columbus, or Thomas Jefferson, and when you ask âwhoâs next? GEORGE WASHINGTON?â The answer should be - YES, FUCK EM.Â
Slavery, especially Atlantic chattel slavery as we saw it here in the Americas, was morally repugnant, start to finish, and without question an institution of untold horror and human suffering, and ANY ONE who directly and knowingly benefited from it was a bad person. We donât need fucking STATUES of them because they can not and should not represent the values we wish to celebrate.
There were no good slave owners.
This book is a masterpiece! I truly never loved a story and the characters as much as in this book. It's heartwrenching and I cried a lot as Paige Toon really knows how to write a book. You really feel like a part of the story and I for my part did not want it end⤠It's a beautiful story about life and I highly recommend you give this book a try! Let me know what you think of it
so I just finished this and it truly has been one of the best books I have read in the past years! I finished it in one sitting and it didn't take me more than 3 hours. I loved how effortlessly Kasie West makes you fall in love with the characters! Obviously it's a teen story and sometimes it felt a little 'too young' for me, as I found the way the characters behaved sometimes a bit childish. All in all the book is a really lovely read, though! You totally get sucked into the story and I for my part didn't want it to end⤠definitively recommending this one
any suggestions on what to read next? I look forward to reading all of them so much!
just started this book and I'm already hooked! haven't been this excited to read in ages so you definitively should check it out
I really thought I found a new favourite book here. Sadly enough I have to say that to me the ending was more than displeasing. The storyline was beautifully constructed and I absolutely love the two main characters and their chemistry. However, the author manages to completely destroy everything she build up withing a few pages and I really hated they way she ended it. I totally get why she did end it in that way, don't get me wrong and all in all the book is still great. I would have wished for a happier ending though as it all comes crashing down rather sudden. Additionally, the female main character is put into a not so flattering light with those revelations made in the end. She truly deserved better and the male main character deserved to be treated fairly just as much. I would still recommend this book and if anyone has already read it pls let me know what you think of the ending!
