Season three of Outlander (Starz’s historical romance based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series) premieres Sunday! I can barely contain my excitement, and NPR editor Barrie Hardymon is right there with me. She writes that as steamy as the show is, it’s also about a lot more than sex:

“… it’s not always screwing for screwing’s sake, though it doesn’t shame its characters for that, either. Physical intimacy advances character development rather than checking a prestige-television boobs box. Claire and Jamie have a real relationship, and their connection is more than chemistry; it’s the work that goes into any couple’s emotional and sexual life.”

Harry Potter also taught an entire generation of kids that the news media can’t always be trusted to tell the truth, that the government can often be corrupt or incompetent, that the legal system isn’t always right, that the people in power don’t always have your best interests at heart. That bad things sometimes happen to good people, that your heroes aren’t always as perfect as you think they are, that even those with the best intentions can be wrong, that everyone can make mistakes and that often in order to make things right it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice.

Little Pink Houses: Rated E, 15k.   Deputy Dean Winchester has seen some interesting things in his time, but dealing with a tiny house on Fergus Crowley’s property might just be the strangest, especially when the snarky, kinda gorgeous protester who owns the thing answers the door buck ass naked. Dean’s life might never be the same.
