My dad couldn't tell u my favourite colour, my best friends, my favourite show, my mental state, my age or my hobbies. He couldn't tell u anything about an average day for me, how I'm finding school, if I'm sleeping at night, if I'm getting on okay with my mom. He couldn't tell if I'm sad, happy, tired, exhausted, depressed, or not eating. I almost died and that's what it took for him to tell me he cared and not long after I was discharged he pretended nothing happened. Counting down the minutes on our court issued visits not spending a minute longer then he had to, i didn't know that then I thought he wanted to see me but now I know. He wasn't there when I needed him, those nights I cried, nights spent in dull hospital rooms, when they made me take off my clothes, when I was humiliated, when I thought leaving this life was the only way to find peace.
