Are the robots still so stupid they haven't figured out how to bypass the "prove you are not a robot" ticky box yet?

(smoking a cigarette) the average american is afraid of what is new and what is foreign, and especially of what is adult. they are trapped forever in daycares of their own design, reading books and watching shows made for children. And while there are interesting things made for children, by and large, they tend to stick to inoffensive, intensely juvenile things that won't challenge them much. And worst of all, if you suggest to your Average American that they should try to step outside of their narrow box, especially if they're trying to become artists, animators, film makers, novelists, etc, everyone acts as if you've just bombed the daycare. Wow.
Rob Lowe is the most irritating celebrity. Watched a little documentary about movie tropes that he hosted and he had to go out of his way to say he hasn't bought bread in however many years (good for you I guess?) and oh in case you didn't know apples have 15 grams of sugar in them and THEN HE TOOK A BITE AND SPAT IT OUT.
I don't think we need to be shamed by a rich dude about eating bread. We all know there are carbs in bread right? They never shut up about carbs in bread, especially if you're a little fat, then god help you.
Literally this is not what the thing he was hosting was about AT ALL, but in case you've been living in a skinner box for the past, what? 10 years? In case you didn't know this, Rob Lowe sells Atkins stuff. He's worried you might forget.
Who the fuck cares if there are 15 grams of sugar in an apple?! Eat the apple. IT'S AN APPLE. It's got a lot of other stuff in it that's good for you actually like vitamins and fiber. Also joy.
Did not have to take a bite from a perfectly good apple he didn't want to eat then make someone off screen hold out a bowl for him to spit it into. You wasteful dickbag. Someone who actually could use the nutrition of that apple or just wasn't being a dramatic performative douche and likes apples could have ate that. It is a huge disgusting privilege to be able to deliberately not eat food and waste it in front of an audience to make a point about weight loss, especially on a show about *checks notes* movies and film tropes.
Also, I hate his face.

I adopted this derpy little gremlin about three weeks ago. Full of sweetness, zero braincells.
The word you're looking for here is "heterochromia", but thank you so much for the laugh. π
She's having a full on existential crisis.
You will always be fond of me. I represent to you all the sins you have never had the courage to commit.

This has been hysterical because people are mad that a guy who we knew was from Somerset and who has been making art for the last 35 years is a 50 something white man.
I've seen multiple "he's just some middle aged dude!"
And like, yeah! Of course he fucking is! His whole thing for the last 25 years was getting away with tagging in broad daylight in official looking places because he was Just Some Guy in a high-vis jacket. So he looks exactly like every other Just Some Guy in a high-vis jacket!
Fandom is weird now. Itβs becoming less trusting and friendly, and the Orwellian surveillance issues that are currently running rampant in the USA and UK have bled over into fandom spaces.
Iβd read the articles that young people have no privacy and have become so accustomed to it that they enact on themselves. Abstractly I knew this and had accepted it, but itβs only now that Iβm seeing it become a major issues.
Obviously part of the problem is I need to become a trusted member of my new fandom. But fandom in general is becoming far more hostile to privacy than even just 5 years ago.
Iβve had to leave 3 servers that want to do age verification. And this is new. Not even 5 years ago when I started zines ppl just turning 18-20 were far more receptive to the ideas espoused by us older folks about not being surveilled. But now it almost feels like they *want* to be surveilled.
Theyβve become so used to it from tiktok and their government that they crave it. Iβd write a dystopia about it but unfortunately what even is there to say that hasnβt already been said?
If youβre 18-22 now and youβre reading this and willing to listen without immediately calling me suspicious: this is not normal. Age verification will not keep you safe and will not keep minors safe either. It will only lead to the normalization of further surveillance and erosion of your privacy.
I know it can be an unwieldy text especially if youβre not used to reading academic sources, but go read The Panopticon. Watch V for Vendetta or read the comic, read 1984. Watch The Lives of Others and understand the ways this modern era is not so different from the Stasi in the film.
Please.
I donβt want to see a rerun of the surveillance state anymore.
