As much as we have experienced the loss of my beloved Five,it is also a time, if not the most obvious time to celebrate life. At the beginning of the month I forgot to celebrate Virgil Waffles one year gotcha day. He has been nothing but a joy to live with. There is something so special about him that you can only get by holding on to him which he would appreciate more of pleeez. And today is Framps 3 month gotcha day. They say at three months a rescue pup will start to feel like they’re home. I’d say Francis is stronglyconsidering it. A few nights before Five died (and I wasn’t even aware that was on the weekend agenda) I couldn’t sleep and spent some time downstairs with Framps. I was feeling a little weepy which puzzled me at the time (but not anymore lol). And as I sat with him I realized that we had both lost our best friends. This is what we had a in common. A loss that is indescribable and strangely healing. Honestly it’s nice to have someone to share that with. So here’s to our shared experience and the tremendous healing we get to bring to each other. There is no Aprils fools to Framps coming up to bed and sleeping with me all night; even touching me! I’m excited to see us both blossom in our continued relationship. Healing is not fixing. Healing is letting the right thing happen no matter the outcome, including for a cat named Five. Five arrived after the tragic death of my cat, Zephyr; 8 weeks old and a healing salve to a broken heart. From the beginning Five has had a chronic upper respiratory situation. After 17.5 years it has finally taken its toll. What he has told me in the past couple of days Is that he wants to go fly planes. Five has always been my trusty pilot on every flight I’ve taken. He steers clear of turbulence and lends a compassionate flair to the cock pit. This week he added to that. He told me he is a guardian of the galaxy and his work is done here. I am safe. He’ll be back to visit but there’s a lot going on out there and he’s done with this body. Five will always be with me and I’m honored to have shared so many years with him. Five has been my house manager and said he will still keep an eye out for us. What I will miss is having a supreme comforter. Francy was the mother of us all but Five had a way of creating comfort where ever he was. That’s what a good house manager does; makes things safe. It’s never about the one who leaves, but about those who are left behind to make sense of it all.
