“i  said  he  was  following  me.  has  been  for  god  knows  how  long.  following  me  home.  and  i  have  proof.”  he  unlocks  his  phone,  slides  it  across  the  desk  to  show  a  photo  taken  surreptitiously  from  just  outside  tim’s  door.  over  his  shoulder,  jon  can  be  seen  just  barely  ducking  out  of  view.  tim  plants    his  hands  on  elias  desk  and  leans  forward,  clearly  agitated.  “you  see  how  this  is  unacceptable,  right?  there’s  something  majorly  wrong  with  him.” 

- it is splitting hairs, basically, to differentiate between normal perceptions of vampires and what an avatar is. a supernatural being who can be killed but is generally long lived and grows stronger the more it feeds -- in this case, replace fear with blood. jonah has been alive and eating a lot since he began serving the eye; his longevity takes the form of body hopping, but the fact that he can do it at all is impressive and says something about how powerful he is.

- the eye cannot really think, but it can offer basic animal / alien responses to stimuli. it knows who feeds it and who feeds it best. for two hundred years, this was jonah. when jonah made jon the archive, jon began pulling ahead of him. jon is, perhaps, the most powerful eye avatar to ever have lived, because of his collection of marks. jonah is too cowardly to ever dream of collecting them for himself, but he shot himself in the foot; he may have honestly thought he could control jon more than ended up being the case.

- elias pre-conception of the apocalypse really was just chilling, and how the ‘community’ regards him depends on who you ask. some consider him a nuisance; others respect his position and the role he plays in london’s fear ecosystem. of course, he wanted to perform an eye ritual, and was striving towards that goal, but he would have achieved that by having strong and self-sufficient eye avatars, as opposed to ruining one man’s life harder than anyone’s ever ruined a life before.

- the deadlights. jonah’s pupils can serve as physical space-bending tunnels back towards where the eye exists, though they cannot breach the ‘veil’ between his world and his patron’s. if he chooses to draw someone into looking deep into his pupils, they run the risk of going insane, as it’s a level of ‘eldritch’ awareness that’s hard to comprehend for the unprepared mind.
