it was like ruby had become sort of drug for him. he could never get enough of her, but he also knew what would happen if miss perfect rose-mary were to find out about what the two have been up to behind her back. " you don't think i hadn't noticed you before? jesus, ruby, anyone with working eyes wouldn't be able to ignore you and your beauty. " maybe it was more like he didn't want to deal with his sister bitching at him about going after her best friend. they are older now, and ryder could really careless what rose-mary thought about him and what he decided to go after.

Shaking her head the instant he apologised, she mentally kicked herself for somehow already screwing things up. "That's not it. It's... Nobody's ever asked me on a date before." When she had started dating Richard, it had been their parents who set up the dates. After that, he simply told her when and where he wanted to show up - and she was somehow meant to make that work regardless of what her plans for the day where. Whenever she and Richard were broken up, others seemed too scared to even say a word to her, much less ask her on a date. Listening as he described his ideal date, her eyes lit up, and she'd bet anything that she had a dopey grin on her face. "I think a picnic at a park is pretty special. People go to the best restaurants to prove they can go there... Picnics are sweet. They have to be classic for a reason, don't they?"

" Your ex-boyfriend never asked you to go on a date with him? " Wells questions with curiosity behind his words. He couldn't imagine what Clara's last relationship must have been like if the other male didn't even have it in him to ask his own girlfriend out on dates. Sure, Wells hadn't always been the best boyfriend in past relationships before, but he couldn't wrap his mind around the idea of not asking his exes to go out on dates with him. It leaves him questioning if Clara's ex just basically demanded that she'd met him at whatever place he'd picked out for them. It has Wells just thinking about what type of nightmare the other male must be. A smile begins to form upon his lips at Clara's response to his proposal to go on a picnic date. " I am not the type of guy that is all about flaunting that I come from a wealthy, power family. If I could I would much rather come from a normal family... "

Simply raising an eyebrow at the question of whether his sister would be forced to be with somebody who didn't make her happy - he reasoned they both knew the answer to that. "When have any of the parents in our social circle wanted happy children?" When he was younger, he'd always been so surprised how many rumours about affairs were whispered about at parties. The older her got, the more he understood that said affairs were people's only chance at actually feeling something. So long as there was no concrete evidence of an affair, nobody dared to talk about it outside of the shadows. He also thought it was endlessly tiring that they people who looked down on others who had affairs, tended to be the ones who'd had the most out of anyone. But then being hypocritical was basically a necessity in their society. "You never would have got through the front door when we were younger if he didn't think you had some merit." It sounded cruel, but it wasn't as though he was talking about his own opinion of Kassidy. He reasoned her parents would have said the same about him. Especially when they were younger and had no control over where they spent their time - they'd never be allowed around people deemed unworthy. "But if you're asking me exactly what he thinks... I don't think anyone besides him ever truly knows."

Of course Kassidy knew that it had likely been a stupid question to ask. All that ever seemed to matter to people like their parents was to find a match for their children that would help their family's succession in some sort of way. Which is why she'd known that her own parents had been on her case about being with someone that came from their social circle or someone even higher. Micheal had been the easiest choice for her when he'd suggested the whole fake relationship. Her parents had always adored him, and the fake relationship bought her time. The only thing is, Kassidy hadn't been looking for someone else that could fill his place when they decided to end the fake relationship. Instead she felt herself falling back into old habits with Micheal. " You have a point, -- but I've yet to see either of our parents push back against us. " That is one thing that Kassidy knew she didn't want... An unhappy marriage. She'd always known that she wanted to spend her life with someone that she loved and they loved her back. Is it a foolish thought for someone that comes from a family like her's? Maybe, though she did have that happiness once. It just happened to be with the person sitting across from her. " I guess you're right, and I know it is none of my business, but does he have plans on who you're suppose to end up with? I mean if he has them for his other children... Wouldn't he have one for you too? "
