It’s been over a month since he’s felt this low. Knowing your triggers, then avoiding them should be an easy task in theory. However, how do you avoid said trigger when it’s a person you co-parent with, and have to see on a regular basis for the sake of your children? In Rashaad’s case it truly is easier said than done. It’s not that he’s holding a torch for his ex-spouse, but rather every time he sees them, he’s reminded of just how much of a failure he really is.
Another deep sigh left the chef’s parted lips. He sat at the bar, shoulders hunched over while nursing a drink. The place wasn’t packed, but for during the day he certainly had company. “It’s a good thing my liver doesn’t have a watch, yeah?” he snickered to himself, when in reality anyone sitting at the bar could hear him loud and clear.
Behind the bar one of the bartenders began making an elaborate drink cocktails. As it was something in his line of sight he began watching in earnest. Rashaad’s head tilted out of curiosity, then in the next moment the shared what was on his mind. “Say, if you had to create the perfect cocktail what you you put in it?”

Some days are better than others. It wasn’t easy being away from her girls. She never been away from them this long. Facetiming them every night, and texting them, makes it manageable - for the most part. But, the act of taking the girls phone to prevent them from contacting her, by her ex-husband, was enough to find herself at the bar during the day. There was not much though behind this idea one could say it was impulsive. It seemed like a good idea, but once she stepped inside, she started to question herself.
Would it really be a good idea to get drunk now? Especially when her business is still open, she needs to be accessible to her employees. And what if the girls got their phone back and attempt contact her, but she wasn’t sober enough to answer? According to her lawyer, there is nothing she can do since ( he claims ) that he took the phone as punishment for something they done. She could not control the way he parented as long as the girls were sage.
The drive down here seemed meaningless the moment all these thoughts went through her head after she entered the bar. Hazel took a deep breath in before scanning the room. She was about to turn around and leave before spotting him. Well, she’s assuming it was him. It was the same outfit he was wearing when she saw him during her lunch break. She built quite a routine for herself in this town, and he happened to be a part of it. Blame it on her frequent stop to Bite Me during lunch time.
She made her way over to him, just close enough to see his face. Like she thought, it is Rashaad. She placed her purse on the counter before taking the stool next to him.
" I’d say so, ” she started, “ but, I’d imagine your watch being some type of plaid print. ” Plaid is quite a popular for him when it came to his clothes. Not that she was paying too much attention to that. “ The perfect cocktail? ” She took a minute to think about it. “ Hmm, a drink, doesn’t matter how strong it is, that is basically like a mood ring. Either the color of the liquid changes to whatever mood you’re in, or you’re given a glass that changes color. Then the drink is specifically made for the color the glass turns to. --- I don’t know if it would be a perfect cocktail, but it definitely would be interesting. ”
