do you know what it's like to be doubted? to be doubted because of the pets you have? to be doubted because of the house you live in? to be doubted because of the car you drive? do you know what it's like to have someone intrude your personal space? to have someone question how you could possibly afford your residence? to have someone question what you do for a living to provide your lifestyle? to have someone question how you really were able to get where you are? do you know what it is like to want to shut people out? to want to shut people out because you've experienced the doubt and the questions? to want to shut people out because you are tired of dealing with the microagression that comes with being a middle-class, educated, black family? surprisingly not all black people are thugs, we don't all scam our way to the top, we know how to save money to get what we want, we aren't ignorant to your subtle racism. we are just as human as you are, and we want to be treated like it. this isn't even politics, it's called being kind.
