I made, what now unfortunately feels like a mistake, of being emotionally vulnerable to my close friends list on Instagram and referring to my activity level. As a fat woman I am the lowest hanging fruit when my friends fall trap to weight loss pyramid schemes. I'm tired of people trying to monetize me on their journey toward cuter selfies. Weight loss takes over their lives and their brand becomes a festering ground of toxic positivity, egotism, and hive-mentality.

I'm so sad about this friend in particular. I adore her. I'm happy that she's feeling more confident as she drops pants sizes, but I've been SO CLEAR that I need her side hustle to have a boundary from me. I know that she's being assimilated into this culture that normalizes "helping friends" by her coaching group, but it's really damaging. I worry it's only going to get harder to communicate it as she feels more and more validated by her personal results.
