Regan wasn’t entirely sure what this surprise thing was that Oliver had planned to show her this evening—but something about it made her stomach have little nervous flutters, and she wasn’t entirely sure she liked that feeling. Not that it was bad flutters, no, it was pleasant with just a touch of anticipatory anxiety—what she wasn’t sure she liked was that she was feeling this sort of thing in the first place. Oliver telling her she was important to him was a little, well, big, and well, slightly terrifying to be honest. Their thing wasn’t meant to include feelings, they were supposed to just be friends, occasionally co-workers and a fun time with no strings attached, insanely great sex. Period. The end—however—that was not how things were going and sex with feelings meant there was the real possibility of getting hurt in the end.
Still—after lunch with Winnie, Kristen and Stassi, Regan ran home and changed out of her little miss trendy dress and into a fitted white tee, a pair of skinny blue jeans and an old dark colored sequined jacket she’d recently purchased in a thrift shop and a pair of dark blue Keds with little white cats stamped all over them. She grabbed her phone, keys, fake ID and bank card; tucking them into various pockets as she made her way down to the apartment lobby—her tummy doing little somersaults as soon as she saw Oliver waiting for her. Quick kisses and greetings exchanged, Regan took his hand and followed him to his truck, buckling in as he climbed into the driver’s seat beside her. “The flowers were great, made Winnie all pouty cause she thought they were for her at first, but they’re beautiful,” she rambled a bit nervously. “Still no hints though?”
