"Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow, bright blue his jacket is and his boots are yellow..." Eddie's grin was wide and a bit crooked, a devilish glint there in his brown eyes. He nodded towards the book, again. "He is comic relief, but like... think of what he is? Everyone in the book is after control. I mean, even Frodo is trying to control his destiny rather than just give into it. Tom? Tom just is. He's content to go with the flow. Just be with his pretty wife in his little cottage. What a life."
He leaned back, absently smoothing out the cover of his Saga of the Swamp Thing. He was pleased with himself, and with the bit of conversation. Tolkien fans couldn't be too bad, could they? And hey, she was able to hold up the conversation better than most were. He reached up, absently toying with one of his curls for a moment. Suddenly, he surged forward, holding out his hand. The rings on his index and middle fingers were large, a bit cold to the touch.
"I'm Eddie. I've seen you around but never... Probably should have said hi before this." That broad grin turned a touch sheepish, but the bemusement still shone in his eyes. "I liked the report you gave on your book the other day. It was... cool. It's cool that you read so much. I do, too."
