my original plan for this edit was sidelines but this one called to me. that one will probably come eventually.

god how i love this song. i could talk for hours about the symbolism i chose but i will just mention a few of my favourites

'america first rap country song' - the america first line is one of my favourite bits because it just worked so perfectly. i will always use the clip of him and bergy at the cup parade because they are just so young. so full of life. nothing could hurt them in that moment. how i wish i could protect them.

'a slaughterhouse, an outlet mall, slot machines, fear of god' - SLAUGHTERHOUSE BEING THE BRUINS FRONT OFFICE WHO TRADED HIM AFTER MAKING HIM CAPTAIN. AFTER HE SAID HE WANTED TO STAY. an outlet mall being the fans, everyone always wants something, wants someone. slot machines. game of chance. what if he had made that shot. would things be different? would he still be a bruin? would bergy have retired? would the ending of the story had changed?

'its a government drone, or an alien spaceship' - using clips of him playing for canada for the government line. he loves playing for this country and everytime he does the media is like 'does he deserve to be here? is he good enough? isn't he just a terrible dirty player?' 'is he good enough to be near sidney crosby' mind you, sidney crosby adores him. he just wants to play with his friends who he has grown up playing with. he wants to play for the country who he calls home even though he has played in an american market since he was 18.

'a haunted house, with a picket fence' - i love this line of the song and using his 1000 games vs 1000 points clip felt so fitting. both the same type of milestone. his family is there and yet something feels off in the florida jersey. his family isn't there. a haunted house.

'the billboard said the end is here' - to this day, i have not watched the entirety of his return to boston ceremony. i think if i do, i will kill myself. he should never of had to have a ceremony. he should still be in boston.
