micahdanvers:
One of Micah’s brows rose at the interruption, silence consuming the air between their figures as Hattie tuned herself into whatever voices existed beyond his realm of comprehension. “No, I never hear it when you do. I thought we’d been over this after the time that woman banshee screeched and you nearly went into cardiac arrest.”
His extraneous inquiry forgotten, the man forced the conversation into a roundabout so that he might uncover more information about their mystery guest. “Did you catch what he said? Seemed fleeting.”
“She was terrifying. It sounded like... well maybe I shouldn’t do that here. People might not like it. But you get the idea.” Hattie found herself zoning out as she remembered the moment he referred to. It had been one of her more intense early experiences with hearing spirits and...
Oh. Their conversation had moved on. Her nose scrunched up as she tried to recall what she had heard, or what she thought she had heard. “I think he said ‘pie’. Or ‘die’. No, it was definitely pie. Oooo, pie sounds really good right now.” She reached out and grasped both of Micah’s hands. “Can we get pie? Where here sells pie?”
Morrigan rested her hands on her side of the counter, leaning forward as she waited for the woman to turn her attention back to her. She was sure there was a look of irritation crossing her face ( it was a wonder she was so good at this job when her patience was all but lacking at times ) but still she forced a smile onto her face. “I didn’t hear anything besides an unpleasant hissing from the espresso machine, and the man behind you speaking all too loudly into his cell – so, no, I didn’t hear any kid.” Her smile had brightened, becoming more genuine for a moment. “But I asked if you were ready to place your order. Businessman behind you looks ready to strike if you say no, so please keep that in mind.”
“Oh!” Hattie turned her back on the barista once more, and began talking to the man behind her. “I’m so sorry, you seem really busy, and I’m taking so long. I’ll order now. I swear.” She reached up and, without thinking, straightened the man’s tie. “There! Perfect!” The shocked expression on his face was missed by Hattie as she had already turned to face the barista again. “Just a large black coffee. For here. Has anyone ever told you your face is perfect? It’s just so, wow!” There was a slightly dreamy look on her face as she admired the girl in front of her.
Don’t ask a dancer to do a dance for you the same way you don’t ask a comedian to tell you a joke.
“What…” Mia stopped mid sentence wondering what on earth the woman had been distracted by. It was just them. Sure there were other people around but they were busy carrying on their own conversation and errands. It was only by chance she had found herself talking to the woman next to her anyhow.
She narrowed her eyes at her a moment. “Hm, no?” Should she have? Mia wasn’t exactly sure but she wasn’t going to lie and say she had when she clearly hadn’t. “I was just wondering if you needed help with something. Seemed you did…”
Did she need help with anything? Hattie bit down on her lip once more as she wracked her brain for what had led her to approach this girl. Often when she got distracted by voices (some from another realm, some in her head), it was difficult to switch back into the modern world. But then she felt something, a feeling that was exactly rare recently, and it had been growing stronger. “I think...”
Without asking permission, she reached forward and grabbed the girl’s hands. The feeling in the pit of her stomach was practically pulsing now and a bright smile broke out across Hattie’s lips. She had been right. “You! You’re one of them, aren’t you? You’ve come back! I’ve been practicing, you see. Very touchy stuff, this is. Sometimes I know, and sometimes I don’t, but I knew this time!” She was still holding tight to the girl’s hands and was all but jumping up and down with excitement.

4. Is your character good at keeping secrets?
If they are about herself, no. Absolutely not. She loves to talk and share and she’s an open book. If it’s something important to someone she’s close with, then yes.
20. An obscure/ridiculous fear your character has?
Ghosts. The kind that are just a sheet over a person. She talks to real ghosts all the time and has no problem (they are people just like you and me!), but hanging sheets? Get out, she’s not about that. Get a Jason Vorhees mask instead.

She knows obscure facts about the presidents! Did you know Zachary Tayor, previously a war general, died from eating cherries with iced milk? Hattie knew that.

“Wait...” Hattie held up a finger and turned around, her eyes shifting around the room. She bit down on her bottom lip and tried to concentrate on the voice she was hearing and where the source was coming from, but it seemed as soon as it had appeared to would vanish. Huh. Hattie turned her attention back to the person that she had been speaking to before being so rudely interrupted by what she believed was a spirit (though it could very well have been her imagination).
“You didn’t hear that little boy’s voice, did you? No? Okay, sorry, what were you trying to ask me?” she asked, the incident now long forgotten in her mind.

25 years of age → ALIVE → Shelley Hennig
After having four boys, the Graham family was more than relieved when their fifth (and last) child was a girl. Their mother wasn’t entirely certain she could handle anymore testosterone in the house. Hattie was a ray of light within her family. She rarely cried as a baby, and even when she did she was easily soothed. She was always friendly, babbled away happily to strangers, and made friends everywhere she went. Her mother often worried when they went out, because she had a habit of wandering off and finding anyone who looked interesting enough to talk to. Really, it was a wonder the girl hadn’t been lost of kidnapped. The Grahams grew up in Manchester, UK, and growing up with four older brothers meant soccer was a big part of their lives. Everyone played, and during holidays when the entire Graham family gathered, they had a tournament. There was no going easy on her simply because she was a girl. No, they treated her like just another brother. Because of this she learned to hold her own. She always appeared to others as delicate, but she’s anything but. While she did play soccer, and enjoyed it, it wasn’t her passion. Dancing was her passion. She had gone to a ballet with her mom when she was young and that was it: she was hooked. They enrolled her in classes immediately and she threw everything she had into dance. Hattie was ten when the family decided to uproot their entire lives and move to the United States. Bentley, New York to be exact. Her grandfather had passed away and her father thought it was important for them to be there for her grandmother. It had always been easy for Hattie to make friends, so she adjusted quickly to this new life. She viewed it as a new adventure. Hattie hadn’t known her grandmother very well previous to their move, but family members had always told her how much she reminded them of Grandma Graham. Just like her grandmother, her head was always up in the clouds and half of the things that came out of her mouth didn’t make sense. They were both friendly and warm, if not a little spacey. Quickly, her grandmother became her closest friend. There was something peculiar about her that not all the family knew: she was a psychic. In the past, they had all brushed it off as another one of her quirks. She was already an odd duck and this was just more nonsense she began spouting off. Hattie wasn’t like that; she believed her. Not only that, it seemed the psychic gene had skipped a generation and found it’s way to her. It greatly explained the vivid dreams she seemed to have every other night, and the constant feeling of deja vu; it wasn’t that it felt like this had happened before, she had SEEN it happen before it did. It all fascinated Hattie and her grandmother became her teacher, instilling all she knew into her granddaughter.
It was five years ago that Hattie’s grandmother passed away and she honors her memory by continuing to learn all she can about her abilities, and hopefully strengthen them. She keeps vivid dream journals, updates them when things come true or when she discovers that the past events she dreamt up were real. Hattie also enjoys some of the more cliche things like tarot cards and tea leaf readings. She’s not entirely sure how reliable those are, but wow are they fascinating. While she doesn’t entirely broadcast her powers, she doesn’t try to hide them either. Hattie has found that most people react in the same way they did to her grandmother: just another crazy Graham; endearing, but with more than a few screws loose. It never seemed to phase her. There were more than enough people that seemed somewhat intrigued. Most of them wanted her to do a reading, and though she insisted she wasn’t that type of psychic, she did her best. Dancing is still the biggest part of her life. She considers herself very good at it and even teaches children’s dance classes in town. When she’s not doing that, she’s out somewhere with friends. Drinking, dancing, getting lost in the woods; Hattie is up for whatever. Don’t be fooled by her flighty and innocent demeanor: there may be a lot she doesn’t understand, but sex is not one of those things. She finds herself taking part in far more one night stands then relationships and doesn’t try to hide the fact that she’s more than a little promiscuous. And while she may seem oblivious, she’s been catching on to the weird things happening around town. Glimpses of people thought to be gone forever; a strange feeling of something darker in the air. Hattie has always tried to be a light in the life of anyone she encounters; only time will tell if that can overpower the darkness of Bentley.
