When you define a group of people as "people I don't have to care about," you might find yourself stretching the definition of that group to include people you find annoying in order to dismiss them, as has happened with transmascs being folded into "men". When you decide, for example, that you don't have to care about the concerns of men as a whole, you can also very easily decide that you don't care about any of the concerns of people who have shared lived experiences with men—even if those concerns are very little to do with manhood and everything to do with, say, transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, poverty.
This is how TERFs get away with being notoriously violently racist (we used to say, scratch a radfem and a racist bleeds). If you have seen how TERFs talk about men of colour, about disabled men, about poor men—they have zero qualms about using bigoted rhetoric to take these men down a peg, even if the man in question is being noticeably victimised by systems of oppression. The most common examples I've seen are statements that "Arab men should be exterminated" because they can only hope to oppress the marginalised women around them; or that autistic men should be culled to prevent them "contributing to the gene pool". This is genocidal, eugenicist, fascist thought pattern in action. The exact same things happens to trans men and transmasculine people (especially if they occupy an intersecting marginalised position, such as being racialised or disabled), with the exact same rhetoric being essentially copy pasted with the addition of the "gender traitor" tag.
It's not a mistake that TERFs are all too happy to call me a man as soon as I disagree with them loudly, because to them "man" is a category which can be used to dehumanise (as is woman—all gender is used to categorise and dehumanise). The two categories TERFs tend to use for transmascs is the "fawner" (a person who does the "I Respect Women So I Won't Be Mean To You Despite Your Bigotry" song and dance), which allows them to continue misgendering & talking down to us as confused women; or the "aggressor" (a person who vocally disagrees with what the TERF says or encourages transmasculine transition, regardless of how actually aggressive they're being) who is labelled testosterone poisoned and "just like a man" because they refuse to acquiesce to whatever BS the TERF is spinning. I have personally experienced both sides, and I've experienced what it's like when they rapidly recategorise you from a fawner to an aggressor. I have been called deeply predatory and evil and violent and retarded and manipulative and all manner of things under the sun many times because I don't fawn for TERFs when saying that testosterone saved my life. I've barely experienced the tip of the iceberg in terms of violence that radfems are actually willing to enact upon people, and it's still more than anyone should have to see.
Radical feminism is an anti-coalition, anti-solidarity movement which seeks to divide people further along lines of gender and sex in order to determine perpetual victim/forever offender status. You do not need to buy into it. You should not buy into it. It will not protect you.
