widowmaker x gn!reader
tiniest bit of angst?
widow is talon, reader is part of their own organization (not overwatch)
- reader is sent on a mission at a masquerade ball to protect a special guest
You were standing on a balcony, disguised, watching the people dance. The guest you were supposed to watch over didn't arrive, so you took the chance to enjoy the night. The cup of champagne was making the ball a bit more bearable.
As you lifted the cup to your lips, you heard a gun ready to shoot you from behind, a sniper to be precise.
You lift your hands up and turn around slowly to see one of Talon's finest agents upside down, with her grappling hook around one of her legs to hold her up.
"Seems that spiders do have some hesitation before killing their prey." You muttered out.
"You're not supposed to be here." Widowmaker told you.
"Maybe, but.." You used the fingers from your free hand to move the sniper touching your forehead, "..what do you know?"
She furrowed her eyebrows, adjusting her weapon back to pointing at your head. "How did you even know I was here in the first place? Specifically on this balcony?" You questioned her, focusing on the gun.
"Don't ask stupid questions, especially when you know the answers to them. You know I always find you." She replied, not moving an inch. "You're right. You always find me, yet everytime you do, you don't do anything. You don't dare to leave even a scratch on my body. Why?"
The words that came out of your mouth left her in thought for a few seconds. She had already scanned the perimeter before revealing herself to you, making sure it was safe. But what was the reason? What did she earn from playing along with you? You both knew she couldn't feel any emotion, and yet here she was.
AmΓ©lie exhaled a small laugh, "I suppose it's time to change the rules of this little game we play."
She firmly grabbed her sniper and before you knew it, she had already disappeared in an instant. That didn't change the fact that you felt a tingling yet painful sensation in your body, which made you drop your cup. A bullet had went through your skin, penetrating your thigh.
After Widow had returned on the dropship, she heard Gabriel's voice behind her, "Was the target there?"
She gave out a short 'no' to him while staring at her weapon, hoping to not see you again for a while.
Back at the balcony, you clicked your tongue, "Damn it." You felt slightly annoyed that you would have to heal up your new wound, but at least it'll make you think of her in the meantime.
thank you for reading!!
