I’ve got flight tickets already. now looking for a place to stay. Anyone who can tip me for a great place to stay in Shinjuku that will not break my bank account, please do? My lazy, lacking-exercise obachan legs feel like splurging in 3-4 star hotels, but the cheap side of me (generated by the fact that I live in a 3rd world country where $250/night for a 3-star hotel room is EXfuckingPENSIVE) wants to save up on lodgings so I can spend more days there, not just 4-5. Anyways, I spent hours on end looking for alternative places to stay (that would still provide me with comfort) that when I checked out Arashi-related sites this morning I read Aiba Manabu as airbnb. I need to stop making my itineraries look like a day in Sho’s schedule–broken down by the minute–and not worry much about money–I think. I’ve spent more than a good half of my life working so damn hard to bring money to the family’s dining table, I deserve to splurge a little. I’m 36. If I dont spend that extra saving now, then when? So I took a chunk out of my life insurance investments for this trip because I have no kids/noone I want to inherit my money to. And left enough to ensure that when I die noone will have to use their own money to pay for my funeral. I came to a point where I realize that as a single woman in her 30s, I dont need much life insurance. The important thing is my health insurance is good and I have the perfect retirement plan (no, not death by cancer) so than when I’m 50 I can stop working so hard and just enjoy my pension. I have also been making a separate account dubbed “Well-Deserved Japan Holiday” since 2014 (about $100 a month) that I plan to use for 2 trips next year (Tokyo in spring and Kyoto in late summer/early fall).
