Last fall I had the opportunity to document multiple counties in Kentucky for The Kentucky Documentary Project, an organization working to document every county in the state. I documented both Hart & Barren county, and witnessed life much different than my own. The project, which is an ongoing visual history of Kentucky, will publish its second book in the coming years, 40 years after they published their first book about KY.

Last weekend the Erskine Fire raged through Kern County, California, burning more that 70 square acres of land. Around 2,000 residents evacuated the area as hundreds of structures burned to the ground, making the Erskine Fire the most destructive wildfire this year. The fire burned for multiple days, and two fatalities were confirmed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
