They’re both proxies to HABIT, whose parasite manifests as a fungus that spreads throughout the body, rather than a brain endoparasite like The Wrangled. Which is why they have sprouts of fungus on their bodies, more specifically around their eye!
This type of parasite is a lot more unpredictable and hard to control than The Wrangled’s endoparasite, so it often has negative effects on the host. Bone Collector/Elain’s stomach was attacked by the fungus shortly after being infected, meaning she struggles to keep food down most of the time. As for Femur, the fungus damaged his vocal cords, which gives him a very deep, gravelly voice. He doesn’t mind much though—he’s a cowboy fanatic/reenactor, so it just helps him sound more “accurate”. At least he thinks so.
Both of them were infected by HABIT willingly. Elain ran away from home at a young age, and had been homeless and desperate to belong somewhere for years when HABIT found her. Femur was approached by HABIT in a gun store a year later, and joined for a similar reason. They’re both fiercely loyal to their boss, and one another. Femur especially doesn’t play about Elain, as she’s the only other proxy who actually wants to talk to him.

Note: This is a rewrite for fun. After writing a bit of it, I went 'Oh, that sounds like Nightbringer…' and went harder into that shit, so tons of Ocs, the story is totally different, different plot line obv. I'm still not really sure I'll actually write romance in this
Genre (?): found familyTW: mild gore?|Mention of death and murder| Big fall
⚬───────────────────────✧────────────────────────⚬
Bang
In her core, Alice knew her conviction was stronger than the tides of family could ever be. There is no shame in wanting to build a better world for yourself. Of course, she would not call herself a justicier or even a hero. Yet, she was sure she had done the right thing, and despite the grim spectacle, a pang of satisfaction filled her being. The young woman held her breath, treasuring it, knowing that claws were ready to tear it from her if she dared open her mouth.
Slumped on the ground, his back to his hardwood desk, Henry Corday remained motionless. If any semblance of life still belonged to him, Alice could not tell. Tho his grey locks had been held perfectly by the gel, and his moustache stayed curled in the way he would model it each morning, his dull green eyes painted the idea quite clearly without even needing to check the three gaping holes in his torso. His dilated pupil reflected her like a mirror. Her ginger hair had been dyed black, chunks of it appearing lighter than others, demonstrating her choppy work. Her skin had tanned from the work she had taken on at the estate tho she appeared visibly skinnier, her cheeks full of life, pulled on her cheekbones, the skin trying to hold on to her bones. Her blue irises were the only remnant of who she had formerly been, and even that faded into the darkness of the bureau.
There was a peculiar stillness swallowing the room, dots of red had splashed in every corner, glistening from the ray of moonlight that had snuck through the open radius window. It decorated her once-beige coat, now becoming a mess of polka dots. It was not quite her style, but she had been willing to make a few sacrifices. Contrary to the size of the manor, Lord Henry's office was quite narrow, draped in various green carpets and wallpapers. Quite ironically, the mix of red and green almost made the room resemble a twisted Christmas ornament, yet it lacked some sort of choir to really set the mood. Her eyes travelled around the place, noticing the way the paintings had been moved around since she had last entered the place a year ago. If it were safety protocol to switch them out every few years, she had never noticed.
Time filtered through Alice's fingers like the wet sand she held on at the beach when she was a child, in easier times. Seeking to capture the silky grains had always been pointless, as the waves washed them out of her hands, their softness leaving a gaping hole in her palms. It had become a familiar feeling for the young woman still peering over her uncle's corpse. She finally exhaled, her body trembling as she lowered the gun. It was one thing to have heard him wail in pain, but the silence was almost as deafening as the screams of her uncle. Taking a step back, she launched herself over his still-warm body, letting go of the firearm. The weapon clanked onto the wooden plank that served as the floor of the study.
It was a cheap trick, she thought struggling to rip the grimoire from his grip, to bring a gun to a magic fight was an unhonorable deed, yet she was no fool and even the most idiotic greedy bastard could have bet that if she hadn't shown up with it she would've been the one staining the mossy green carpet, tho it most likely would have been dark ashey dust rather than her blood.
The tome was relatively big, the front page ornamented with a large snake, golden scales eating its own tail, an unbreakable cycle, Ouroboros. She froze. The back had been turned red, stained with blood. Her teeth edged into her lower lip. She flipped the pages quickly, inspecting them for any damage, her lips parted with a smile, realising it was still in perfect condition except for the minor inconvenience the blood had caused on the back cover. It would be an easy fix once she returned to Lady Colmene's estate.
She hushered back to her feet. Noise coming from down the corridor. The house staff would surely hunt her down if she were still present by the time they saw the corpse. Pushing herself off the carpet, she reached for the gun, carefully placing it in her pocket, making sure she wouldn't accidentally shoot herself in the guts. She jumped from the windowsill, letting herself plummet into the garden. Alice had been falling for a long time, figuratively, of course. Her body quickly hit the thorny bushes of pearlescent white roses, her own blood leaving spots of red on the flowers. It was complicated to find a single cause for her descent. Not everybody decides they'll kill their only living family for a spell-book. Not anyone reasonable, at least, and Alice had long forgotten the sanity she used to live by.
In the world of witchcraft and sorcery, being weak either made you a shadow or dead. The leader of her Coven, Lady Colmene, knew this better than anybody else. Formerly the wife of a late powerful sorcerer, the second her husband had died, the incredible 'Union of the Occult' that had been so sympathetic to the man she had married overlooked the existence of the poor widow who had been afflicted by a deadly disease, which could've been so easily fixed by a touch of magic. However, with the help of an unusual tome, the lady was able to fix the temporary affliction that would be in that case: death. Since then, no one has ever seen her shadow again. Of course, Alice did not dream of her death. If she did, she wouldn't have scrambled to her feet as quickly as she did. But power? That was another matter.
The garden stretched on, mist embracing the darkness of the night. It's green fields desperately empty of anything other than those damned roses. Alice placed her hands on the smooth stone of the railing, leaping over the fence. Thumbling down into the forest, she felt dizzy, and placing one foot before the other caused pain to shoot through her already wounded ankle. She gulped, the trees of the woods bending and twitching around her. They paraded themselves, offering an eerie spectacle as the damp mist settled over the verdant landscape. True be told, Alice was beyond done with jumping and rolling, yet there was no other option than running, so she took off in the familiar forest, attempting to ignore the distress her legs caused her.
The woods appreciated her presence, welcoming her and providing shade that hid her from anyone who flew up ahead. Alice trusted them. She always had, ever since she was a child. It did not matter if today they appeared sinister. She recognised them, so it was only more ironic when she slipped down a drop that shouldn't have been there. Her hair getting caught in her mouth as her arm seized the edge of the hole that stretched underneath her dangling form.
Her breath caught on, the heaviness of her body dragging her down as she glanced around herself. The smooth, sharp rock she had latched onto poked her trembling wrist. Gritting her teeth, Alice tried to understand the situation. She attempted to lift herself without much success, wincing as her arms began to shake with much more fervour, the wind pushing her down as if the pit sought to swallow her. There had never been any holes of such size in the estate, that she was sure of. Besides, she could safely assure that she had never witnessed any pit with fangs surrounding its edges.
The young woman could not hold on, and, without the possibility of crying for help, she was unable to maintain her grip. This time, she genuinely fell for hours.
⊰═══════════════════⊱
The air was rancid. It infiltrated her lungs, snaking its way through her blood cells. Alice's dive down this petrified mouth had not been kind to her body. The air of whatever cave she had landed herself in was worse. The back of her head felt wet. She didn't need to be an archmage to guess she had cracked her skull open. A nauseating thought passed through her mind, 'Those rocks are most probably holding my brain together," she muttered to herself, her voice turning so high-pitched she couldn't recognise it as her own.
"I quite doubt that, dear, that would be quite concerning for me", a voice chirped from above her. Alice's eyes flew open, revealing the blurry image of a white-haired man perched over body, still pinned to the ground by the impact of the fall. His long white hair tickled her nose as he bent forward, his gloved hand brushing against her ear, returning to his original position with an aggravated sigh. "Although this isn't better ", he grumbled, inspecting the brown stain that had coloured the tip of his fingers. "Nothing I cannot fix tho, though. Keep still, it's not like you can move the rest of your body anyway."
Her breath itched at the thought as she tried to get up. She raised her hand, or at least attempted to do so, but nothing happened. "what happene-" words were useless, a loud crack came from the base of her head as he began to draw arcane symbols in the air, and before she knew it, she was shrieking in pain. Managing to push herself up, she sat, finally able to feel her hands and back that throbbed from the misery this had placed on her.
"Aren't you the loveliest stray in the nine circles of hell, Alice?" he questioned, with a perfectly still smile on his face since they had met. Without leaving her time to answer, he continued dismissively," If I did not have a purpose for you, perhaps I would've kept you around, a wonderful apprentice you would make, except for the attempted murder, or rather successful, moreover congratulations on that achievement "
"I- how- who are you..?"
His navy eyes glimmered with glee as he extended a hand toward the young woman. "My name is Solomon, king of sorcerers and representative of humankind in the court of the Lord Diavolo and you…." He cooed, pulling the girl to her feet, twirling her in a way that only made her even more faint. " Are Alice! I have been so desperately looking for you, dear. You are quite fashionably late! It took you thirty years to appear, little witchling. I was almost worried my friend's foresight betrayed me." he paused, examining Alice's bewildered expression. Her head had yet to stop spinning from what had just happened. He sighed, letting go of her hands, clapping both of his together, a more genuine smile painting on his features.
"Lest I digress, you are here, and perfectly on time for the matter we have to face"
"What matters?" She interjected.
"Pray tell, do you have any experience in politics?" he tapped the side of his satchel, scrutinising the mess of a girl that stood before him.
"No?"
"I could tell," he lamented," but there are no miracles I cannot achieve, even down here."

One of the first arts I've finished in a while, here's Gabriel! One of my friend's ( @moho-braccatus) dnd character for a campaign I named "The Ballad of the Rats"
I might post some new stuff soon i've drawn a bunch of stuff for a personal project
Summary: Nicole and Lagrimal go on shopping trougth the local supermarket of the nearest town, searching for the ingredients of tonight recipe.
Nicole from: @hauntedradiostation
Lagrimal and Amil: from @/me!
Words: 2k and half
Beta readers: @randomball123 & @/capy my dear moots. hjnk <3
Note: so sorry if i mischaracterized Nicole as a character, tried my best to understand her complexity as a character, but what matters it's that at least i tried and haved fun.
The supermarket halls were cold as they passed by the refrigerators, meats, frozen vegetables, and fries in search of ingredients within the budget of 70 dollars. A quick explanation for why they were here was that Nicole needed specific ingredients for tonight’s dinner, not to mention the mansion was running out of food. Amil couldn’t come with Nicole because of some funny business he needed to attend first, so Lagrimal decided to tag along instead to get out of the house for a bit. Probably because of the stress, who knows.
Right now, Nicole has a list of various foods between her hands. The dinner ingredients were the most important, and the first thing they were going to search for. She walked past Lagrimal, already ahead of them with one hand over the front of the supermarket cart to guide while turning to aisle 8.
Nicole looked at the list in hand. reading the ingredients and mumbling under her breath. as Lagrimal leaned in a little closer over the cart. listening attentively.
"Bacon... scallions, cream cheese, almonds... huh... salt, black pepper, garlic powder... and hot paprika." the girl muttered, disregarding the other ingredients to emphasize the condiments. Her sight traveled upward to look at the shelf in front of her, one hand moving while trying to find these certain products.
Lagrimal’s hand grabbed a container, touching it then smelling the inside. It didn’t smell like much, so they poured a little bit onto one hand and licked it. As soon as they bit the little black ball, they started coughing as if they were dying. just like Tim does when he doesn’t take his pills.
“Lagrimal..?? what’s happening? Are- are you okay…? Why are you coughing-”
“Blac- eek black pepper.. spicy…”
“…” Nicole looked at Lagrimal like they just insulted her whole family tree. “There’s no way you find black pepper spicy.”
“…It is… hekp” Nicole sighs and hands over a little bottle of water she carries in her bag just in case; Lagrimal took a sip, then they both continued shopping. Now with the black pepper, regular paprika, salt, and garlic powder in the cart, it combines to 7.65 dollars by Nicole’s calculations. With fast steps they went passing by the refrigerators, where Nicole stared at the butter. a bitter expression on her face while reading the price.
“Jeez… $5.66 for a stick of butter.” Nicole exclaimed to herself more than anything. Lagrimal stood up straight at the sound of the little girl’s voice.
“Mmm… kind of expensive, huh…” Lagrimal commented, looking over to the sound of Nicole’s voice. their posture going back to a curl.
“Yeah, I know… but Amil wants three of these bad boys.” Nicole looked down at the piece of paper, the list of ingredients she organized and wrote herself into the, almost-white object. contrasting with the oversized writing skills of Amil, that was tilted to the side and barely understandable. he wrote a bunch of things for the other creepys at the mansion, and at the side of the well written “butter” Nicole had written, there was a giant “X3” in what looked to be like black marker. the thumb of Nicole couldn’t help but pass over one of the black spots on the paper, looking at her hands while remembering how dirty Amil’s gloves were when holding the list. her expression of disgust went away, leaving only the tiredness while she sighed. frowning once again at the end.
“Oh, why so much?” Lagrimal questioned.
“No idea! He literally handed me the list back, and then retreated to work in his truck. he barely answered any of my questions.” Frustration slipped through the voice of the girl, her blue eyes looking down again while trying to make those messy words make sense. “Why do we even need bird seeds?? We- we don’t even have a bird!”
“Haha… alright, how about this.” Lagrimal replied while getting a bit closer to the cold shelf, a hand over Nicole’s shoulder and the other searching for a stick of butter. “We’ll take two of these spread in bread thingies, and if it slips out of our budget, we leave the second one on the shelf and take just this one home. what do ya think?”
“Uh.. could work, uhm.. I mean, maybe if we go cheaper on other items.” Nicole reaffirmed, taking the butter bar Lagrimal took and leaving it on the shelf to instead grab the cheaper one. Lagrimal just nodded with a small smile painting their face, caressing one of their hands against the back of the brunette’s head before returning to taking support from the cart. Nicole grabbed the shredded and cream cheese, throwing them into the cart.
18.35 dollars now, still on budget. though at this point, Nicole was wondering if they could even afford to buy the other creepys their food.
“Yo, let’s go to the butcher’s shop, we need some bacon.”
“Just bacon?”
“Uhm- uh.. let me check…” Nicole said while double-checking the list, one of her fingers passing through the ink. “Oh yeah- we also need boneless chicken.”
“Alright then, guess we are bacon-ing it!”
“…Huh?”
After that terrible attempt of a joke, Lagrimal and Nicole headed towards the butcher’s shop. the strong smell of meat hitting the noses of both of them. frowning slightly while Lagrimal touched the glass of the counter.
“Hello, welcome to baconing your bacon, in the land of meat. where it’s all, Uh, Meat.”
“Wa- what??”
“New slogan..” Nicole whispered into Lagrimal’s ear as she balanced on her tippy toes. a hand partially covering her mouth, and eye siding towards the employee. who was clearly tired. “They couldn’t come up with a better one.”
“Ohhh…” Lagrimal let out a sound of understanding, simultaneously nodding and getting back to the objective. “So we’re getting some slices of bacon and 1 kilogram of chicken breast, got it?”
The worker nodded and turned on the machine, cutting up the chicken and slices of bacon right away.
“I thought you knew.” Lagrimal heard once again and looked over to the sound, Nicole getting their attention immediately.
“About the slogan?”
“Yeah! I mean- uhm, ya know, why else would you say we’re bacon-ing it?”
Lagrimal turned their head the other way around, with one hand scratching their hair. trying to hide the embarrassment dusting their cheeks. “…Unfortunately, I got the humor of my dad..” Lagrimal paused a second, taking a breath. “I was trying to fuse ‘killing it’ and ‘bacon’.”
Awkward silence here.
“Oh… my bad, I guess-”
The counter vibrated with the loud sound of the full bag of meat hitting the scale. The tired worker looking at the pair behind the counter, doubting if they have money. their heads redirecting towards him instead.
“It’s $25.67” without knowing which one to face. one blind, the other a child. Nicole could feel the judgment in his voice. The worker got a nasty glare from the little girl as she turned around, digging in her pockets.
But anyways, in the right pocket of her brown jacket there was an 70 bill that Amil had given them a few hours ago. now being handed to the employee. “You have change?”
“Yeah, no problem, just a second.” He said while stepping to the register. Lagrimal took the heavy stuff and placed it into the cart right next to the shredded cheese, smiling slightly. When the employee came back, he gave Nicole two 20’s and four 1 dollar bills.
“Thanks,” Nicole said while turning her steps without looking back, eyes staring down at the list. grabbing the front of the cart again, and pushing Lagrimal to follow her. Lagrimal just accepted the new path.
“What’re we getting now?”
“The next thing on the list was… panko breadcrumbs, but we already have old bread at the mansion.. we can make some with it.” Nicole said before pausing for a second, then cleared her throat. “We should get the mayonnaise first, then flour, scallions and almonds-..”
Then, suddenly, the loudspeaker of the store started announcing the closure of registers in 20 minutes. Nicole almost dropping the list while thinking of how was that’s possible.
“What? No- no! no! it can’t be 2 quarters past 9! Your clock says 8! And we came here just a few hours ago-” Nicole blurted, panicking as they wouldn’t be able to finish everything they needed, but most importantly the flour.
“Oh..? this thing..?” Lagrimal said as their hand touched the golden clock down their neck. “It’s broken.”
Horror coated her face at the realization. There wasn’t much time left, they had spent too much time with nothing. They didn’t even get the creepypastas food like requested, her hands clenched in frustration, raising a fist in the sky while cursing god himself. Or herself, idk, Nicole’s a feminist. Cursing herself also because of the imprudent error. “Okay- kay! Now- go to the register with the things! I’ll go get the other stuff and we’ll meet there!” She demanded while sprinting over the halls, her voice increasing as she went further away. Lagrimal, who was more relaxed than they should be, shrugged off as they took their cane out and asked a nearby employee to guide them over to the nearest register.
Nicole was running like her life depended on it, looking over the signs of each aisle, and turning into the one where she could find the mayonnaise. Her head going back and forth, without knowing which to decide on. she just grabbed one randomly, they’ll get used to the garlic one anyways! Or not?- fuck! She came back, leaving the garlic in the shelf and choosing the normal mayonnaise. sprinting back down the halls.
“Wow! Hey, hello little girl, where are your parents at-“
“NO TIME.”
She then proceeded to dodge the worried employee, going towards the scallions instead and grabbing two then a bag, opening the bag while running and placing the scallions inside. Too busy placing the vegetables without noticing the recently mopped floor, she slides across the wet floor. causing her to tremble on her own feet, trying to maintain control even though she’s a nervous wreck right now. She expanded her arms and legs, clenching her teeth, slowly coming to a stop right infront of the jar of almonds! Perfect timing Nicole, you are the man.
She grabs the plastic container without hesitation, sprinting back to the hunt for the more important ingredient, flour! Without it there was no coating the chicken, Nicole never thought she would be sprinting in the direction of a shelf with the all-purpose flour at the top. with pure adrenaline coursing through her body, and stress in her mind while stopping right before jumping. Supporting herself with the shelf and using it as a stair, she grabbed the flour and held it like a trophy. But before she could celebrate the now completed list, a woman snatched the white powder off her hands the second Nicole touched the floor. putting it into her cart and walking away with such a smug grin.
Nicole’s eyes were wide as plates, she stared at the woman like she just killed her cat, or whatever Atlas really was. “Oh yeah, okay fantastic wow!” She went on, her tone bitter and accusatory. “You are seriously feeling superior because you stole something from a child, jackass…” she mumbled without thinking first, frowning. Her gaze changing paths fast now, onto another type of flour since that packet was the last one. She cursed the woman in her mind and took the corn flour, just to go back to running over the registers before the woman could crash out over the comments she had heard.
Nicole’s steps were fast, and in no time she was already over at register 4. where the cashier was passing every item onto the scanner. Nicole sighed in relief while putting all the things in her arms onto the counter, her eyes wandering over the worker who smiled wide open. maybe because in no time they would finish their shift. Scanning every product with fast movement, Nicole watched over how the products added more and more money over the bill.
“… $38.35!” the employee said, waiting for someone out of the pair to hand the money, $38.35 plus the butcher’s meat being $25.67 would be a total of 64 dollars. Just under the limit of the 70. Nicole sighed in relief while searching in her pockets for the money.
“Oh sweet! 6 dollars left, lets pick a candy.” The red haired said to the little one, she nodded while grabbing two lollipops, treating themselves after a long day wasn’t really a bad idea.
“$40.83 please.!” The employee scanned the products, and Nicole payed what was left.
“Do you wish to donate to feed starving people across the world?”
“What do ya think, Nicole?”
“We already have Jeff and Jack at home, so..”
And the suffer and despair ended as they stepped outside of that goddamn grocery store.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦. ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
“Wait… so she stole the flour out of your hands?”
“YES, can you believe it..? Grown ass woman right there.” Nicole mumbled the last part, kind of resentful over the fact that she was shoved off and stolen from by someone three times her age. Her hand moved over to one of the many bags at the sides of where she was sitting, searching for one of the lollipops for herself. Both of them sitting on the sidewalk while waiting for Amil to pick them up.
“But whatever-..oh, look, speak of the devil.” Nicole glanced over to the woman, carrying the stuff she bought over to her car. Lagrimal tilted their head at hearing Nicole.
“Is it the woman? How does she look like?” they asked while a crow rested onto their shoulder.
“..uhh.. blonde, sunglasses, a pearl necklace.”
“Good, thank you!” Lagrimal said, while they started whispering over their breath, the crow now in their hand and moving its head in curiosity as they heard the words. A few caw’s in response were enough for the little one and the few crows around to go fly over the woman. Scratching the window of her car, crashing some small rocks over the glass, the woman struggled while trying to scare the birds away. which didn’t mean much to the crows.
“Don’t look- we don’t want her to think we make some kind of witchcraft towards her..” Lagrimal said as their hand touched Nicole’s head to position it away from the sound of the woman yelling angrily. With one finger pointing towards a random spot on the parking lot of the supermarkets park, not like they were blind or anything.
Nicole laughed to herself as she heard how the woman’s car alarm goes on and causes a little inconvenient moment for her, such as she did for Nicole when she grabbed the last one all use flour. “You know, this was fun,” Lagrimal mentioned, light hearted. Nicole glanced over at Lagrimal and how they were smiling at their own words, affirming what they had said. “Yeah.. I kind of did have fun too.” Nicole said hesitantly, she was never good with expressing her emotions.
Awkward silence here.
“so uhm…” Nicole started. “when did Amil say he would pick us u-“ BROOM BROOOM. The car not only stopped Nicole’s question, but also right infront of them. Amil rolled down the window and excitedly shook his hand.
“Nicole! Lagrimal! Helloowda!” He hits the side of the car door while his arm is sticking out of the window. “Get in guys!”
“…Nicole, please tell me he isn’t the one driving.” Lagrimal asked to Nicole, the same dumbfounded expression on her face.
“He is the one driving.. oh hell nah..” Nicole said to Lagrimal. “Do you even have a driving license..?”
“I don’t like a system having my face and identity.”
“Of course you don’t..”
This was gonna be a really short, fast and dangerous ride back home.

Current WIP progress!!! I took the reference for this drawing from a movie (I just watched it yesterday and I LOVED IT). If you recognize it lemme know!! When I finish this I'll tell which one it is hehe
Btw, it's a little late but HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I'm super thankful for the support you give to my art. I'll try to get much better at drawing this year!! And also, to my mutuals, you are so cool, I love y'all <3
Hello my lovely mutuals and followers. If you found me through flock of the divine or have been paying attention to the project. You are probably familiar with Max the devoted // the wailing proxy.
When I impulsively chose to join I randomly picked Max from my workshop of half developed characters. After reviewing my concept notes more thoroughly I have grew dissatisfied with Max being his chosen name.
I had to jump through loops for it to work in flock of the divine which I'm unsure why I ever did that.
Realistically if he were to change his name, it would be something like Abel or Cassiel.
So from now on I'd appreciate everyone refer to him as Gabriel.
The name Max was used when he was abused physically and emotionally. Gabriel would hate that name so much. Again I'm not sure why I switched it for flock of the divine.
Purgatory is canon in a way but I have plans for that title still.
His canon personality is also different from flock of the divine. He's a lot more complex than I originally displayed in FotD.
The version you see in FotD is honestly a beta stage.
