“Uh, well, oi ‘ave t’e faintest recollection’a playin’ Monopoly in proimary school, but oi don’t t’ink we played it properly. Oi’ll probably need a refresher. Oi ain’t never played Loife or Battleship before, t’ough.” After all, she was more of an outdoors-y kid growing up; board games weren’t things she really played much. Aislin took another sip before nodding. “But aye, sounds loike oi’ll need t’learn now rat’er t’an later.”

“Aye, it looks delicious; yer a regular magician in t’e kitchen, love. We’ll ‘ave t’make sure yer sister doesn’t eat t’e ‘ole t’in’ before we get our shares.” Aislin smiled, kissing the top of Katey’s head before taking a sip of her tea, letting out a small snort of amusement at her wife’s suggestion. “Oi t’ink she’ll jus’ get pouty, at t’e most. Yer goin’ t’ave t’teach me, t’ough, so t’at moight give ye a ‘andicap, focusin’ on two t’in’s at once.”

“Aye, loike t’at. Us old folk are more susceptible t’changes in t’e weat’er, ye see.” Aislin chuckled a bit, making a joke about her age in an attempt to lighten up the mood a bit. After all, she was just a little sore; it wasn’t like she was in crippling pain, and she didn’t want Katey to worry herself sick over some light aches.

“Mmm, t’ank ye…” Aislin gently took the cup in one hand, blowing on it as she wrapped her arm around Katey again, pulling her close. “Hm, oi don’t t’ink so… Sometoimes oi jus’ get sore when it’s cold out fer too long.” Or maybe she just consistently worked too hard and strained herself on occasion - but she wasn’t about to put that possibility on the table, being the stubborn woman she was.

     Katey was very shocked the first time she saw the true extent of Aislin’s scarring. The scars on her arms and legs were assumed by Katey to be the result of Aislin’s military career. Sure, they were rough and tough and noticeable, but nothing out of the ordinary for someone with a job like Aislin’s. It was when Aislin removed her shirt for the first time around Katey that she realized there was far more to it. 

Aislin’s scarring on her side was dramatically worse than the scarring anywhere else. Burns and missing flesh were evident, as well; Katey had never seen anything like it before. The young woman stared for a while longer than would have been proper and polite, but she had simply never seen anything like it. After all, Katey’s life had always been rainbows and butterflies. She had never seen war wounds before. It took her a moment to collect herself, a blush, and she continued doing as she had been doing.

Briefly, she squeeze Katey closer to her, her hand rubbing her wife’s shoulder, as if comforting her despite being the one who was currently aching. “Aye, oi would appreciate t’at.”

Aislin smiles softly before gently draping her arm around Katey’s shoulders. “T’ank ye, lass. It’s not’in’ serious, jus’ a bit’a soreness.”

    “C’mon why d’ youse gotta go usin’ that dumbass nickname?” 

    “– Katherine.”

Aislin smirked a bit as Katey texted Loni, letting out a small laugh at her question. “Ye do remember we’re married, aye? Oi know me flat ain’t as luxurious as yer sister’s condo, but it’s as much yer ‘ome as t’at is.”

     Katey carefully leaned around from a wall, having hidden from her sister that entire afternoon after being reminded of what day it was. Katey one hundred percent forgot it was April Fool’s Day… and it seemed like Loni did, too… … … Katey could do something with this...

She slowly came out from around the corner and held out her hand, nervously taking her sister’s. “Okay… I guess… … … I mean… I mostly forgot… I set somethin’ up a long time ago an’ it’s supposed to go off today, but… … … I swear I didn’t do anythin’ else… … … I’m still spendin’ the night at Aislin’s, okay?”

Katey’s prank:   have Loni being a nervous nelly for the whole day, thinking something was going to happen, but… Katey didn’t actually set anything up. It’s just… a prank.   UvU.

“Well, we got plenty’a overstock ye can always use. Ye got any oideas? Oi’ll ‘elp out an’ leave t’store ta t’e part-toimers, t’day.”

      Katey would have bet ten dollars that Loni set up prank after prank in her condo. Going there would be like walking into a minefield. She couldn’t --- she’d have to wait a day... or two... or three... Loni would get sick of stepping around all the pranks eventually and take them down. The blonde whipped out her phone to text her sister.

                    TO LONI BALONEY:     [ Hanging out with  ♥ Aislin ♥  tonight. ] 

“Eh? No, what makes ye t’ink t’at? Oi was jus’ ‘opin’ ye an’ yer sister don’t go overboard, considerin’ it’s April Fools’. Oi figured ye’d be prankin’ each ot’er all day t’day.”

     SHE FORGOT IT WAS APRIL FOOL’S DAY.
