summer in the countryside
Someone who sees you deeply without confusing you for the walls you made to protect and hide yourself. Someone who can find you.
This is why I always recommend having an emergency cheese. Mine is parmesan.

How to Finish
I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.
Love this, but reblogging it specifically for “Get rid of secret rules.” That’s one of the most amazing illustrations—and points—I’ve ever seen.
so important especially for perfectionists who procrastinate and never finish, or even start because they set such high standards for themselves.
“Kill until” and “get rid of secret rules” are, I have to say, what really did it for me.
I pull over way too often
reading is at its best about enrichment and understanding and listening to other voices… a lot of reader spaces online are in this mindset of consumption that’s fast and ‘productive’ at the cost of depth. a set goal of books in a year as opposed to truly listening to a single voice. like there is a line between wanting to read more diversely in terms of writers which is great and a worthy endeavour versus picking a single book from a continent, reading it shallowly, and ticking it off as having enlightened you and made you a Good Reader TM … it simply isn’t right to tokenise writers who are disabled or racially different from you and use the act of reading their literature for making yourself look good. that diversity bingo reading meme going around social media is sooo offensive and I can’t believe people don’t realise it

The problem is a lot of people are scared to fail. They opt for not doing anything at all so their ego doesn’t get hurt. If you can’t risk failing you’ll never win. How can you commit to anything & succeed if you can’t even commit to yourself & conquer your feelings.

What looks like a scene out of a J. R. R. Tolkien novel is in reality the natural phenomenon of Horsetail Fall at Yosemite National Park. In February each year for about two weeks, the angle of the setting sun, along with the shadow from El Capitan, come to the edge of the falls and set it ablaze. / Cedric Letsch
