You know what I think is really cool about language (English in this case)? It’s the way you can express “I don’t know” without opening your mouth. All you have to do is hum a low note, a high note, then another lower note. The same goes for yes and no. Does anyone know what this is called?

My sweet little baby, you were so little in these pictures. You’re now 13 1/2, nearly blind, and nearly deaf. You can usually only recognize me by smell and Im currently sick, which I think has affected my smell because you don’t seem to recognize me. For the past two days you have refused to come to bed and just want to lay in the living room like you think Im not home. Its breaking my heart that you’re sad because you think Im away when Im right here. I just want to hug and cuddle you but every time I try you show signs of being stressed because you don’t know it’s me. So all I can do is sit here a few feet away watching you, tears streaming down my face, while I look at all the pictures and videos I have of you. Im hoping this is temporary, that once I am healthy again you will recognize me. But I am also worried that maybe thats not what is happening. Your father developed doggy dementia before passing away just before his 15th birthday and maybe you not recognizing me is a sign you have developed it too. I know you are getting old and your time is coming soon, and I all want is for you to be happy and pain free. I know you have had a great life and have been loved by so many. But I have had you since I was 15, nearly half my life and Im not ready to say goodbye yet.
