let me be your salvation

hi allll i’m wren! i am 25 and i go by they/them pronouns. let me tell you bout my baby daeil! you can find all of daeil’s stats on this page, and i’ll be setting up a bio page soon as well.

if you know anything about jaehwa, you might be confused as to why he would volunteer to host one of the activities at dallyeog’s rooftop event. not only can he be incredibly antisocial, but volunteering to help people ? well, there’s a few reasons. the first being that during his childhood his mother shared with him some very important creative skills, some he utilizes on his stream in fact. calligraphy is a way for him to feel closer to her, not that he’ll admit that. the other is the fact he loves showing off when he’s good at something. the streamer is aware not many people are good at calligraphy. so, it’s his time to shine. he’ll do anything for attention.

the deep voice speaking almost catches him off guard, having barely noticed the new dallyeog resident joining him at his table as he writes out hanzi. the phrase gong xi fa cai had obviously been the most desirable for people to learn with the time of year and reasoning for the event, and he needed to practice. “ well, there is a reason this is my booth. ” he offers with a playful smirk to the familiar stranger. at least, he seemed familiar, although he couldn’t put his finger on why. 

as jaehwa continues to speak, he blows on some of the ink, lettering as close to perfect as it’s going to be at the moment. “that sounds like you’re trying to distract from your hand writing being ugly. maybe i’ll be able to teach you something. ” 

calligraphy is mesmerizing; the delicacy in which the brush glides across the paper and how just a mistake in varying weight of pressure for the curve of a letter can ruin your entire work. the resident sitting at the table in front of him  ( the host of this event, he learns very quickly )  makes it look effortless.  if he were anyone else, maybe someone unwilling to try something new in fear of failure or making a fool of themself, he would have taken off in an instant.  instead, he quickly takes a seat in hopes of either learning something new... or, at least, the guaranteed bragging rights of having tried it out.

❝ maybe? ❞  daeil tuts, pout jutting out his lower lip.  ❝ isn’t it your job to help if this is your booth?  you can’t just leave me to my own devices, i’ll just waste ink and paper.  take pity on such a lost soul. ❞

       the corners of his lips twitches upwards, revealing a gentle smile. “ i mean, i’ll have to pay you back someday for all those pastries. i know you keep saying they’re on the house, but it’s really starting to feel like unsettled debt. ” it was uncharacteristic of eungi to deny any offers given to him, especially when they come at no cost. but morning coffee runs turned casual conversations had been pleasant enough for him to etch the barista’s presence in his mind, and it’s only fair that their kind gestures were remunerated in return. “ and that’s exactly why i’m offering them to you, not your brother, ” he retorts, albeit teasingly, letting fondness creep its way into his voice. “ what, don’t you trust me ?? i’m a good cook, i swear. it runs in the family. if it ends up being shitty, in which it won’t, then we can figure out a compensation for that later. ”

↳  𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 for event #003: rooftop new years !!

       he never should’ve came here to begin with. by the third hour, eungi’s social battery was starting to run dry and he begins to wonder why he offered to help out in the first place. sure, it’s much better than having to deal with prissy parents during school conferences, but having to maintain a considerable level of small talk is taxing all the same. fatigue gets the best of eungi and a loud sigh abandons parted lips, the figure sitting across him forced to become the victim of his bitter complaints. “ i’ve clearly underestimated how tiring it is to fold these things for an entire day. i don’t think i’d be able to look at dumplings for the next week without feeling queasy, ” he huffs out, absentminded, dipping the tip of his finger in water before running it around the edge of the wrapper. “ is there space left in your freezer ?? because i’m definitely not keeping tonight’s leftovers. ”

the rooftop event going on for the residents was only appealing to daeil for two reasons, those being socializing and the chance to participate in the ‘open mic’ they’re holding amongst the other events.  he’ll never turn down the opportunity to read a poem of his, and thankfully he’s not adverse to public speaking so it’s a walk in the park for him.  ( not that it’s his turn any time soon, so he’s been wandering around making small talk and getting to know fellow neighbors. )

someone in specific catches his eye eventually, and he can’t quite place where he’s seen this person around, but his interest is certainly piqued.  if he’s seen this person around before, maybe they live in his building or they’ve passed each other in the mail room;  ( in all honesty, daeil has had less to build a friendship off of in the past )  he’s willing to take a chance and approach him.  the only thing - daeil has no idea how to do calligraphy, and his handwriting isn’t anywhere near perfect to begin with.

HEADCANONS # 3 

south koreans adore their idols with their weekly changing hair colors but the majority of citizens has yet to embrace their passion for it. how often did people look at him just because his hair differs? ( and he doesn’t even speak about his pink months, even the blond hair still causes occasional frowns ) ah! even their apartment complex offers little diversity when it comes to hair colors: brown, black or blond. it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t enjoy to imagine what some of his friends ( or others ) would look like in another shade.

“ be careful or you may end up as being the one. pink is my secondary color, i have plenty of dyes and you have just the perfect face for that role, “ he teases but wouldn’t mind it. dyeing the hair of his friends is almost one of his lifetime goals. so far, nobody really permitted hyunhoon to touch them even though there is little risk. after almost seven years of constantly changing his own, he has become a true expert of it. his hair colors never look sloppy. “ i mean, if you ever want to, you are always welcome to knock on my door but for now, neon yellow it is. “ it’s a good choice, one he hasn’t tried out yet. daeil has a good taste!

fingers curl around the cup and he enjoys a small sip of the hot liquid. mh, this really is so much better than all the other places! “ anyways! i also came here because i got you a gift!” he drops a small gift bag in front of the other. “ i know the new year was few weeks prior but it’s never too late for a new lucky charm. this one is from japan, tho. one of my viewers got it for me. it’s cute! you can put it on your key chain for good luck all year long. “

it doesn’t show outwardly on daeil’s face, but he’s immediately intrigued at the idea of having a different hair color than the blonde he has now.  he’s no stranger to dyeing his hair, being a natural brunette and frequently bleaching his hair to keep it the honey blonde he so prefers.  ( if given the chance, daeil would be born again as a natural blonde to stop having to continuously bleach his poor scalp. )  after a pause, he admits,  ❝ i wouldn’t mind being a ghost. i don’t know what kind of color would suit me, though. if you think of one, let me know. ❞

joy blooms in his chest seeing hyunhoon enjoy the coffee brewed for him.  it’s the simple things, really.  for the second time in one day, daeil is surprised by the boy sitting across from him, widened eyes locked the gift bag placed in front of him.  ❝ for me? ❞  it’s a redundant question, but a gift is something uncommon for daeil to receive.  it may be something he’s simply regifting from a viewer, but the sentiment is there,  ❝ i’m happy that this made you think of me. ❞

“ why do you seem so surprised? “ hyunhoon chuckles and slips on the free chair. he’s just in time or well, maybe a little earlier than usual. ever since figuring out his friend works here … there are little reasons to go to another coffee shop (unless he’s desperate and the way seems too far). has he become somewhat of an almost daily face? maybe, but it just works together too well, getting coffee and to see one of his friends. besides, he can write from here as well. the newly found freedoms of his job changes!

painted lips for an amused smile: “ i know, i’m a little early. there was some stuff i had to take care of and it was nearby. don’t worry, the mystery of how you do it remains. “ it’s rare for cafés to figure out the right balance of milk and coffee he prefers. okay, they don’t know for so long, hyunhoon knows that, but he speaks to him like they have been friends for years. that’s just how he is and it leads to him putting up conversations that are most ordinary. “ anyways! have you heard about the rooftop party? i’m so excited! i volunteered to help out with some gaming stuff they found. that’s why i need your help with an important question! “

he pulls two packages of hairdye out of his bag, placing it in front: “ neon yellow or green? i thought it’s a great idea to match with the games but i really cannot decide which one of the two is better. “

daeil does a double take upon seeing a familiar face walking through his doors, slight surprise showing in the raise of his brows and a smile gracing his lips.  it’s not uncommon for hyunhoon to keep him on his toes, something that he reveres in their friendship; he’s never sure what to expect when it comes to the other, and he has a penchant for spontaneity.  ( though, daeil does feel a twinge of disappointment in himself not being able to have a beverage ready for his friend upon his arrival.  he likes to be prepared, enjoys being one step ahead of the curve. ) 

❝ not surprised in the slightest, ❞  daeil teases,  ❝ i always expect to not expect when you’ll come around. ❞  he’s already preparing his friend’s coffee, a fairly easy order; just the right amount of milk, no sugar.  he repeats the latter part of the order to himself a few times when he’s making the coffee, having made the mistake before of accidentally adding a spoonful without thinking.  ( not that he messes up orders frequently, but not many ask for no sugar. )  he’s already taking a seat across from hyunhoon by the time he’s finished getting out the question, sliding over the coffee just to the side of the packets of hair dye now on the table.

NOTE: romance is open to any genders! daeil is very fluid with his attraction

a will they, won’t they situation with romantic and/or sexual tension, daeil is the type to be flirty but never really commit.

exes, or maybe they never dated but were ‘talking’, and now things are awkward between them because they never got any closure/one started dating someone else/etc.

people in the same building as him that he invites over! he’s very homely and friendly and he’ll say hi and make convo with anyone in the hallway, mainly bc he’s so used to ‘customer service’ and greeting everyone that it’s become apart of his personality LMAO

someone who frequents the cafe (it’s not too far from the apartments). he is someone who has a really good memory, so if you’re a regular he will have your name and order memorized!

big sibling/little sibling type friendship where daeil just takes ur muse under his wing and basically acts like a big sib to them!! this will be so common with daeil bc he’s so used to looking after people.

confidant friends…please someone be an emo wreck with daeil and let him express all of his burdens that he’s too afraid to tell anyone else. maybe they find each other on the rooftop every so often and just. let it all out

frenemies ?? because uhh there’s bound to be ppl who refuse daeil’s kindness or be an asshole to him but he’ll still be nice to them :/ rip
