Hows the Ham settling?

While you eat, I will tell you more about #HAMWEEK

#HamWeek is a pretty nonchalant affair. Its all about kicking back, eating ham, and enjoying the Hamtastic Voyage that is the week. 

However, #Hamweek is not only dedicated to gluttony and sloth. It is also a platform for people around the world to show how they enjoy their Ham.

Sharing of #Hamweek meals is ENCOURAGED. It is what keeps the Holiday Spirit alive. I will be back posting some of the ways I have used my Ham so far this week. I am afraid I have been too celebrating the sloth aspect of the season too much.

Hello there and Happy Ham Week! I hope those who are reading are having an enjoyable "Holiday Glaze Season." For those unfamiliar with this Hammy Holiday,  I'd like to take the opportunity to welcome you and to explain it's meaty origin.

In my family, a major part of Christmas is the Ham.  My brothers and I can always expect to find a beautiful, pink, succulent, salty, sugary, glazed Ham to be awaiting us at the dinner table. It is damn near, if not, perfection and one of my favorite meals of the year. You put a couple slices of that on a Snowflake Roll with some Gulden's mustard and you're in business.

We always say in my family that we could stand around a "Honey Baked" Spiral Ham, pick meat, eat and bullshit with one another for hours. Just eating like cavemen and shooting the breeze. That's what my family does best.

Last year, my brother and I actually did this during a snowstorm that crippled most of the East Coast. My Dad had given us a half Ham to take back to our apartment after the Christmas Holiday.

Lets just say we, "went Ham".

There are only two things to do while snowed in: Eat and Drink

My brother and I did plenty of each that week.  We were up to our necks in Ham and Heineken.

At first, we picked from the Ham bone like Neanderthals. Then, I made sandwiches, salads, casseroles, omelettes and stews with the meat. It was quite amazing how much I could do with the spiral slices of greatness. That Ham fed us for a week during the snow and we will be forever grateful. #NeverForget

So, to celebrate such a generous meat- Ham Week was born!
