Upsets make sports great. We see it in football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and all other sports. After the first week of the World Cup, we have seen many upsets already, that’s why this tournament is so special. Teams that come in as underdogs and play with an exhilarating amount of passion sometimes come out on top against the big guys. In this post, I want to cover some of the crucial upsets that have happened so far in the World Cup.
Argentina vs. Saudi Arabia. Potentially the biggest upset of the tournament seeing that the Saudi’s have not been in a world cup in a long time and Argentina was favored to win. Final score: 2-1 Saudi Arabia.
Iran vs. Wales. Although Wales has not been in a World Cup for over 50 years, they are still looked at highly in Europe. Final score: 2-0 Iran.
Morocco vs. Belgium. Belgium is ranked #2 in the world currently and faced a very iffy side, Morocco. Morocco came out with much more passion and just in all played a better game. Final score: 2-0 Morocco.
