sunny had accidentally been soaked,.. well she was choosing to believe it was accidental anyway. when sheâd reached a dry enough place, she tried to fix her hair in the reflection to no avail. âaish..â she whispered frowning. turning to see someone looking at her her hand almost immediately went back up to try and fix her hair again.
âYikes,â he said, after sucking in his teeth to express how badly she looked in her predicament. âWhat, you fell into a pool or somethinâ?â
samjoonleeâ:
sam had just gotten off the phone, his brothers were here which couldnât mean anything good. he lifted a hand to his face and he sighed deeply. he needed a drink and he needed one now, way before he ever came across his brothers. he couldnât deal with them right now. he sat himself once heâd gotten there not paying attention to anyone speaking because heâd zoned out. ââŚâŚ.sorry?â he eventually asked.Â
He paused once the young man prompted him to reiterate his words, noting some distress in his tense features. âI said you look like you saw a ghost,â he repeated, moving his beerânewly ordered, untouchedâacross the counter towards him. âHere, you look like you need it more than me.â
herblindingfaithâ:
Alannah looked at him and nodded her head. â Of course, I invited you so of course, I am going to be paying for everything, unless you are trying to tell me that you want to?â
âIf I wanted to be chivalrous today, I wouldâve offered to buy you a drink at your first offer of giving me a makeover just to shut you up, so... thatâs a hard pass. Yeah, sure, Iâll let you woo me today,â he said, giving her a short nod and a playful smileâjust a hintâto show that he was accepting her invitation.
vincegagliardiâ:
âThanks, bud. I think we just need a fresh coat of paint, but Iâm waiting to hear back from the insurance people. Hopefully itâs not anything worse than that.â Vince replies, nodding slowly. âI think pizza might do the trick. Everyone likes free food, right?âÂ
âFuck that, you ainât gettinâ your timeâs worth just waitinâ around for all that bureaucratic bullshit to work its magic. Itâs why my pops rebuilt the B&B all on his own, after the crusty asses who used to own the place just gave up waitinâ for their little miracle to happen after the fire.â He was always just a little too outspoken about things, and if his grandfather or his father ever heard a word heâd just uttered, theyâd smack him upside the head (though theyâd admit that a part of it would be true), but heâd always had some distaste for the rules and the general system of things. He was always just so impatient, restless, always eager to solve a problem before he could actually properly solve it. âItâs gonna take some time is all Iâm saying, with everyone âwaiting to hear back from the insurance peopleâ and all.â He shrugged. âFree food would be your best bet.â

ivy could feel her jaw clenching as the other uttered the word again. she hated it. she detested it. sure, she had a short fuse, but she hated being undermined. it happened way too often before she came to crownsville and she vowed to not let that happen to her again. ivy knew if she complained about it again he was just going to do it again. so instead, she just lifted her hand and slapped the other across the face as hard as she could. maybe that wasnât the right thing to do, but she was pissed. beyond pissed. âfuck off.âÂ
The impact of her palm across his cheek definitely did its job in wiping the smug grin off his face, but thatâs what he deserved for not taking anyone, least of all her seriously. âJesus fuckinâ Christ,â he said, lifting a hand to gently lay over the side of his face, head lowered slightly. âWas that really necessary? I was just funninâ you, for fuckâs sake.â It wasnât anger that was in his voiceâhe usually reserved that for more grave circumstancesârather a genuine curiosity as to the reason behind her actions, at least, those that werenât immediately clear to him.
livbennettâ:
Liv was glad to see Hal come over to her and help her out. She didnât know what she would have done if he hadnât been around. âThank you so much,â Liv said, smiling appreciatively when Hal picked up her book and helped her with her crutch. Since fracturing her leg, even the simplest of tasks had become difficult for her. For a second, she wasnât sure what to say in response to his compliment. She was far too kind to tell him to leave her alone. âOh, thatâs very kind of you to say that. I feel as though Iâve been looking absolutely dreadful lately.â She really hadnât been feeling like herself. âIâve been alright, I suppose. My leg gets a little sore from time to time, but other than that, itâs not too bad yet.â She knew it would be worse when she had to actually put weight on it. âWere you injured in the storm at all?â
He leaned against the shelf, knowing well that it was sturdy enough to not have him topple with it from the number of times heâd been in the same position with about a dozen other bookish girls heâd tried to pick up in the same way. Folding his arms across his chest, he surveyed her figure at the self-deprecating remarks directed towards herself and responded with a sly comment of, âAt least itâs only your leg that gets sore,â paired with a suggestive tilt of his head and the curving of his lips. He repositioned himself to stand a little more comfortably and continued, âNah, I was indoors. Well, at home. Decided to have the day off, canât really tell if itâs a good or bad thing that I wasnât at the B&B to kind of manage the whole fiasco.â He paused. âDonât you worry âbout me, sweet cheeks. A storm could never faze a Garcia. We have the ferocity and the resilience of a bull.â
It wasnât an uncommon sight, seeing someone in front of Hal Garcia, all blushing and flustered as he showered them with compliments. If he had a dollar for everytime he ever made a flirtatious pass at someone or managed to successfully get their number, he wouldnât have to run his familyâs bed and breakfast. He hasnât been shy about his advances towards people because he was, by nature, in love with pretty much anyone with two legs. One would argue that he could keep try to keep it a little more PG, especially in a place like the diner, but he was never one for such etiquette.
âYou free this Saturday, then? Those tickets arenât gonna admit themselves, you know,â he continued as the waitress swayed slightly in place, tucking stray strands of her long, blonde hair behind her ear. âI said Iâll think about it,â she told him, prompting a grin to form on his lips. âAta girl,â he mumbled, reaching upwards to pinch her chin slightly before she would go on her merry way. It was only when she cleared his view that he managed to spot the person at a nearby table who may or may not have been listening in the whole time.Â
âAs I live and breathe,â he called out, raising his voice higher, just enough for her to hear. âWhen the hell did you get back in town?â He stood, smoothing down his flannel (as if that would make him any more presentable) as he made his way over to Daisyâs table. âWhat, you were just gonna let me make a fool of myself in front of that girl that whole time?â he joked, and used a hand to lean against the back of her seat.

cameronkyleâ:
Cameron was slightly taken aback by the otherâs choice of words, looking rather confused at the wallet in his hands. âUh,â he said dumbly, âI guess not?â he said, making it sound like a question more than anything though. âSo, itâs not yours, I reckon?â
âWhoa, whoa,â he began, holding a hand up slightly, hovering over the wallet. âDepends on how much is in it, though.â He knew eventually that the truth would be revealed once the young man would open the wallet and couldnât be identified as his; he just wanted to mess with him. âHavenât proven it isnât mine yet.â
herblindingfaithâ:
She looked at him âWhat no! I am on painkillers at that moment so that would be really stupid. I will take that as a no then, how about you just come and have lunch with me instead?â
He groaned when she didnât seem to budge, although the prospect of food was attractive to him. âAre you buying?â he asked, his interest piqued for the first time. He was only a gentleman when he felt like it, anyway.

vincegagliardiâ:
âThe shop flooded a bitâŚIâm hoping the damage isnât too bad though.â Vince sighs, shaking his head. âYeah, Iâm okay. In desperate need of a nap, but letâs be realâŚI havenât slept since Matteo was born.â The older man jokes, though thereâs a hint of truth to his words. He canât remember the last time heâs had a good nightâs seep, but that was the life of a single dad to three. His kids came first; they always did. âIâm good, really.âÂ
He sucked in his teeth at hearing what his friendâs shop had suffered, though he wasnât surprised. It was a pretty devastating storm, and he was oddly thankful that that was the only thing it endured. âWell, if you need any help fixinâ stuff, just give me a call, yeah? The B&B ainât too bad, and I got people to deal with the damage, anyway. I can take a couple of hours off, help out dryinâ yours. Maybe bribe some kids with some condoms or whatever the fuck is the youthâs commodity these days to help out.â
pcisxnivysâ:
âfirst of all, donât call me kid. just because youâre pushing forty doesnât mean you have to call me fucking kid.â ivy adressed. she hated pet names. especially when they seemed as though they were used in a condescending manner. âsince i wanted to learn how to cook. iâm tired of living off diner food and fucking snacks from the 99 cent store.â
âWhatever you say, kid,â he said, if only to get a rise out of her, as he did with everyone else, though it didnât usually end well for him. What was the worst she could do to him, anyway? He supposed that was the problem; he underestimated a lot of people. âHowâs that workinâ out so far for you, anyway? Havenât burned a building yet? No toxic hazards or anything?â
livbennettâ:
Even though Liv had been injured at Cover to Cover, that didnât stop her from going back there for books. It wasnât anyoneâs fault that the bookshelf had fallen on her. The inclement weather caused it. Liv made the foolish mistake of thinking she could leave the bookstore without buying anything, and now she was attempting to maneuver about on crutches while holding her newly purchased book. She ended up dropping one of her crutches as well the book, so she was looking around for help because there was no way she could retrieve them without falling over herself. Of course the only person around was Hal, but she was desperate. âHal! Excuse me! Could you please help me out for a second?â
{ @halgarcia }
Heâd already eyed her the moment she walked in, though hadnât made his move yet, merely observing her from behind one of the nearby shelves, pretending to be invested in a self-help book on overcoming public speakingâ not that he needed it, really, but it was the first title within reach, and he needed a reason to appear busy, if only for his own cover. He seemed to have grabbed her attention, however, when she needed help with her crutches, though he didnât need to be asked twice for him to come to her aid. Moving towards her general direction, he stopped right in front of her and picked up the book that had fallen from her grip, as well as one of the crutches now on the floor. âFor someone with an injury, you donât look half as bad as the rest of this town,â he remarked, promptly helping her reposition the crutch and handing her the book. âHow are you feelinâ?â
vincegagliardiâ:
âThat was an oddly specific scenario. Speaking from experience, bud?â Vince teases with a grin, rolling his eyes over at his best friend. âDramatic as always, I see. No storm can get Hal Garcia down, huh?â He adds with a small grin, giving Hal a nudge. âYou holding up okay?â
âNo comment,â he teased with a deadpan expression, though he knew that if anyone would know the real story of how he lost his virginity, it would be Vince. Putting the cigarette back between his lips, he briefly turned towards the other, noting the subtle concern etched into their features before blowing the smoke away from him. âCanât say Iâve suffered from any injuries myself, though the B&B looks like itâs had a rough night,â he joked; he could make light of the situation even in the face of adversity, though he knew that heâd have to deal with fixing the damages later on. âYou alright?â

pcisxnivysâ:
âi feel like theyâre trying to push some fucking avocado agenda on the world.â ivy grumbled as she looked through a food magazine. being that she spent most of her time eating at her job, she wanted to learn a skill that she knew she would actually use. especially since she wanted to find a hobby as well. âlike, every page, itâs avocado. itâs disgusting.â she scrunched her face up at the thought of eating the one thing she couldnât stand. âlook, look. fucking avocado on every page !!â she continued passionately, shoving the magazine in the otherâs face.
Immediately lowering his cigarette to avoid any fire hazards, he lightly shoved the magazine away, directing it back towards Ivy. âNo one told you to fuckinâ eat the damn avocado, kid,â he grumbled, before taking a drag of his cigarette and huffing the smoke out into the air. ââsides, when did you start reading food magazines, anyway?â
cameronkyleâ:
âExcuse me!â Cameron called after the person that passed him only mere moments ago. He picked up the object from the ground before jogging after them. âIâm sorry, I think you dropped this?â he held it out to them once he reached them, âIs this yours?â
He turned his head back at his attention being called, finding the young man moving towards him, holding up a wallet and waving it at his direction. âKid, if it werenât but I said it were, would you know any better?â he challenged.
