About The Muse: Original character, original fiction. Mainly features Vayu (he/him), a human dragged into a strange yet familiar world, where he was fed on by a flesh-eating undead being for years. He escaped years ago, but goes back to that world for his own, personal reasons. Steadfast, loyal, determined; exhausted by the world but trying so hard to keep going, keep doing what's right. Guest features are Vayu's adopted daughter Niraja, and the fungal yakshini sage Mycaed.

On the inside, he still enjoys the things he enjoyed as a teenager. In the modern verse this is classic Doom, and certain YA novels. In the dnd verse, I'm not entirely sure. Maybe also an adventure novel. A kind of cheesy and dated but weirdly deep one.

Vayu looks up at Ruby, with a quizzical look. The hat tilts down, covering his eyes. He takes it by the rim and raises it, so that Ruby can once against fully see his confused face.

He blinked. Ruby was far more fashion-conscious than him, but he liked to think she rubbed off on him in that way. Which made... this... all the more surprising.

Vayu raises his head and tilts it to the side. "You have?"

The confusion is earnest, but probably unwarranted. He was mildly notable in the world of lacrosse, even if not for any skill. (Though he wants to think he is skilled, nonetheless. A little scrap of dignity goes a long way.)

However, he was no Olympian, and probably never would be.

Vayu would love to say he knows this is incorrect, but in order to do that he would have to confess that he-- and don't be shocked-- touched Iago's neck.

(seriously, getting into fights even semi frequently will fuck your body up eventually, even if you start off relatively healthy, we all tend to ignore this for our adventurous muses but still.)

The external scarring involves burns, cuts, the vivisection scars, and those are all problems pain-wise because few of them healed under great circumstances (especially the vivisection scars). The real killers though are the internal scarring. I think those cause the most pain (and certain mobility issues) for Vayu. A lot are from wounds that aren't actually survivable for humans under normal circumstances, so that explains that.

Although Curumë thinks every day spent with Vayu is a special day, for this specific date, he wants to make his partner feel loved and cherished, more so even than usual. He slips out of bed early before sunrise, taking over cleaning and household duty so Vayu can stay in bed for longer. Then, when he finally wakes, Curumë will greet him with a kiss on the forehead. Sunlight is tickling both of their faces, as he offers Vayu a warm smile, presenting him with a healthy breakfast in bed.

Spending some more time cuddling Vayu, he lets him know that he has taken care of his chores and that they can spend the day any way Vayu likes, but will suggest a walk in the forest. In the evening he takes Vayu to their favourite clearing, bringing a bottle of wine, sweets and a special treat from Vayu's home country (both, which he has stolen or smuggled the days before). Their dinner is simple, something Curumë could get premade from the town. But it is hearty and equals comfort food.

As they sit in the clearing, cuddling, and maybe drinking a bit of the wine, he will look into Vayu's eyes and tell him that they reflect the night sky before he kisses him and reminds him how much he loves him and that despite the night sky full of stars, Vayu is his only star in the dark. He will sit and cuddle with Vayu as long as likes, holding him close and enjoying the quiet of the evening with him.

Of course, Vayu tries to climb out of bed shortly after waking up as a first instinct. It takes a bit for him to settle back down and enjoy a lazy morning, content in the knowledge that Curumë had taken care of his morning chores.

He wasn't sure how to spend an entire day now that he had no work to do, at least not on such a short notice -- but a walk in the forest was probably going to be his final choice anyways.

In the evening, they both drink the wine and enjoy their picnic under the stars (and Vayu sighs when he sees it and the sweets and treats Curumë brought, because he knew full well they were stolen, not that it stops either of them).

Vayu leans his head against Curumë's shoulder, and looks up past the canopy. His mind wanders back to the first night they spent in this very clearing, looking up at the stars together on a night where neither of them could sleep. Staying there, despite Vayu's initial plan, til sunrise. He's a bit tempted to do it all again, to hoard all of Curumë's affection til the stars went out.

She's. Throwing a heart at him. A whole heart. Sure. It's still warm. It was probably beating just a few minutes, if not seconds before.

The fact that the gift is presented with the cutest of smiles from her, with a little wink of top ( that, of course, he won't see. Because of her helmet. ), make things almost grotequely funny. Cute. In her own ways.

Vayu's hands fly up and catch the thing, before he even registers what it is. He brings it down to his gaze, and sees blood seeping onto his hands, from a heart. Poor bastard, he thinks. There's the ghost of a feeling of disgust, but it's gotten easier and easier to ignore lately.

So, he can't help but look back up at Zazel with a soft-gazed smile, and a quiet "Thank you."

It would be a terrible waste to just leave the heart to cool and rot like this. He should preserve it somehow... or cook it? There was a fairy tale that had some evil queen cook a heart with some herbs, he thinks.
