Liam never replaced Noel!! He could never find anyone to take Noel's place. He never praised another songwriter as highly as he did Noel. His solo career didn't really have a lead guitarist (though his band sure had the Noel haircuts and dressing sense lol). He never got his band to sing Noel's backing vocals live during his solo career. The crowd, sure, but never a bloke behind a mic. Remember Noel giving him the choice in 1995 to sing one of either Wonderwall or Don't Look Back In Anger, and Liam chose Wonderwall? He never sang Don't Look Back In Anger. The one time he did the acapella version at Glastonbury 2017 in tribute to the Manchester attack victims? He got the crowd to sing it.

He only once sang Half The World Away, the only other Noel lead vocal Liam has ever sung live, towards the end, and that was when he dedicated it to Noel.

Liam never replaced Noel, never could replace Noel and never wished to. He just patiently waited and waited, with faith in the universe (and in his brother), that Noel belonged right by his side and would come back home to him.
