6. When I go shopping He checks all my purchases via text before I pay. Sometimes He tells me I can’t have an item and the equivalent money goes to him

7. I arrange to meet Him at a cash point. He’s late, but it’s OK. I put in my card and number, then stand aside while He puts in the amount. Then He takes the money and walks away.

8. I’ll get texts with just a number. No other words, just “20″. He gets £20 immediately in his PayPal

9. He tells me to buy some expensive Calvins underwear and get them sent to him. There was a time when I was young and easy to manipulate, so I was made to believe that everything they said was true. I wish that I didn’t have to waste so many years in the closet trying to “repent for my sins” and “deny myself”. For too long I focused all my energy on trying to “pray that it would go away”. It affected my studies, my career, and my relationship with those dearest to me. Instead of studying or spending time with my family, I’d be seen at Mass, at Confession, or else praying the Rosary until my knees bruised. It was through the hypocrisy of conservative Christians and the incongruency of Christian doctrine that I realised that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, and that was when I broke free.

Some of you might be thinking, “You could have been stronger and stood your ground, then you wouldn’t have to suffer for so long.” Let me remind you that I was young, I was naïve, I had a conscience that was easy to manipulate. Christians prey on these sensitive people as they are the easiest to evangelise.
