It was used in all social medias , in news channels around the world. Every body was concerned with the paris attacks in all the five continents of the world.
 Nowadays the public sphere is based on social networks and News channel where people can come together to freely discuss economic , political and societal problems. People can share ideas and that is what keeps the world going. Thanks to media in all its forms

This article tells us how many people around the world are learning chinese for different reasons such as political , economic and cultural reasons. Even though some people think that china has a less prosperous global future than USA, the rescent studies have prouved them  wrong. This is because the chinese language is expanding globally. Many countries such as USA , Australia  have introduced mandarin in their curriculums .China is the second economic power in the world so learning chinese will bring alot of job opportunities to people around the world. I personally think that , if people are willing to study chinese , this means that china has a positive futureÂ

We live in what marshall mcLuhan called the âGlobal Villageâ. We are all interconnected through new communication ways such as mobile phones and social medias. If a hollywood star in america dies or does something wrong , within few minutes it will go as a global news. If some one lives in USA and he wants to talk to a relative in china , he just needs to dial the number and there it goes. This is globalisation! this is what marshall mc luhan predicted and we are witnessing it today.

Product placement is the process in which manufacturing companies pay to have their products exposed in television programs, movies, or music videos. The bond movies seem to be popular with product placing cars, watches, phones and drinks; with every second on screen the product has counting in millions being paid. In the latest movie Skyfall Heineken beer was a clear example of product placement. Heineken paid almost 45 million dollars to have the beer featured in the movie. You might ask why not just invest this kind of money in a TV Advertisement or something? Well, that is the whole point of product placing; it features in contexts devoid of Ads. According to Bloomberg Business â66% of viewers skip, mute or otherwise ignore TV adverts. 90% of people watching pre-recorded media skip the ads. 78% of marketers feel that TV advertising is sharply declining â That is why it makes more sense to have your product strategically placed in movies when people wouldnât expect it, and what a better movie to invest in than a James Bond franchise which would have it exposed to millions of viewers world wide. I think that product placing is indeed becoming a smart way for manufacturers to showcase their real world products/brands in fictional worlds on screens when they arenât expected. Sometimes product placement is done in a smart way but other times when Iâm watching a TV program or music video and the product is just too âin your faceâ I personally find it disfavouring.

The public sphere between the past and the present
JĂźrgen Habermas - the German sociologist and philosopher, is best known for his theory: The public sphere.
The public sphere is basically described as an area in a a period of time where people can share and discuss latest news. Where they identify and debate over social problems and might actually influence the political actions of a government.
In the 17th and 18th century in London, the public sphere was known to be the coffee-houses around the city, such as, Jonathanâs and Garrawayâs and also Lloydâs. Habermas suggested that at that time coffee houses are the public sphere where âprivate peopleâ could go to a great gathering place to discuss news, business, politics and also just to have a convivial chit chat. These coffee houses were used as an opportunity to a lively and open discussion with a sphere of varied social backgrounds of patrons.
The swiss noble CĂŠsar de Saussure in 1726 wrote â..workmen habitually begin the day by going to coffee rooms to read the latest news.â
Baring in mind that the media back then was always controlled by corporates such as the church or the government. A time where it was hard for people to be individual and free thinkers.
Nowadays however, we can see that our public sphere has become more global, with an easier reach to the latest news and an easier way for people to discuss and influence political actions.
âTo own the medium of the message, is to own the meaning of the messageâ
In the past corporations used to control the meaning of all the messages, since they held the power to expose what ever they wanted the people to believe, using news papers, magazines, advertising and satellite news channels.
Today however, as it is mentioned in the video above, corporations are not the only medium we can use in order to rely a certain message. Social media has become a medium that we own in order to rely our own messages.
Social media has helped taking out the medium from the hands of the few and putting it into the hands of many. Each day people add to the public sphere - through blogging and sharing different posts, creating a bigger global network, where discussions are being made and free opinions are being spread without anyone censoring it.
I know I blabbered a lot about the public sphere, however, it because I find this topic really interesting, since I, like other people, like to share what I believe and I like to discuss what I know with other people, that are also interested in the things I am interested in. Today the public sphere, is more global and contains many discussions and opinions, that are leading to change and leading to enlightenment to many different things around the world. Such as the Arab spring, Green Peace campaign against Barbie. I find this as amazing, because people simply have a choice and are not bound to a powerful organisations that can control the world because they simply have loads of money.

Chinaâs future
Chinaâs economy and population is growing by the second hence causing many politicians to question if China will dominate America. A book written by a British journalist and scholar called When China Rules the World: The End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order mentions a lot of China being the new world order and the west no longer being dominant. China has an extremely different type of culture, history than the western world and they believe to be superior to others because of their advanced civilisation. The article I have linked mentions Chinaâs economy soon being able to surpass Americaâs economy. âOur research on national economies throughout world history shows that long-term economic growth, while indeed based on technological innovation, only sustains itself in the presence of democratic political institutions that provide people with incentives to innovate. China may continue to grow in the near term, but the limited rights it affords its citizens places major restrictions on the countryâs longer-term possibilities for prosperity.â  I mentioned this quote because it states how even though China will grow as any authoritarian country does but because of the limited freedom their citizens have it will cause problems for them to grow as much as they could to get on Americaâs level. in my opinion, China will be very close to being stronger economically, politically etc, than USA but I believe that language is an important aspect and English will always stay as the most used language.Â
. In all the 196 countries in the world today, you will discover that there is atleast one shop that sell american products. From the image above you can see that you can find a nike shop in paris , a disney store in london and a macdonald fast food in rome. All these are american productions. Every where in the world you will find something that is culturally american. This is because america has conquered the world in most aspects especially culturally. They dominate the world in media due to the fact that they have the available resources and the neccesary technic to extend their culture world wide. In my Country for example(Cameroon) all youths want to wear an american brand or dress like american actors and i think thatâs the case elsewhere in the world today and their main tool to expand their cuture is by using the media such as TV , Radio and musics, Internet as well.
Personally , i think that the american dominance is not that good because it makes us abandon our original cultures and values. Many people around the world want to behave like americans and they tend to forget their local way of life.
Branding is the main method involved in creating a unique name and reputation for a product in the consumerâs mind, it is usually established through various details such as logos, packaging, slogans and promotions. Advertising campaigns work in a larger aspect of branding; all of which aim to create a unique image for the brand. Corporations work towards establishing a significant and distinctive presence in the market that would attract and retain customers. An example of good marketing that i found was the Coca Cola âShare A Cokeâ campaign. The campaign started off in Australia and after its impeccable success spread to various countries. The company printed popular names based on the country with the phrase âshare a coke withâŚ(name)â.  Also, had available options to custom make a name. The reaction to that marketing idea was booming everywhere it took place. People were so ecstatic to simply see their name on the bottle. it was an online trend to capture a picture with the bottle and post it on social media. According to the video above there was a â870% Increase in Facebook traffic and 12,020,000 earned media impressionsâ that goes to show how successful the campaign was just by adding a personal connection between producers and consumers. I was personally an easy target of this campaign I remember when I was back home in Egypt two summers ago, I was looking for a bottle with my name and I was very excited when I purchased one. I find the results of this campaign very mind blowing because everyone in the world is aware that soda is bad for you, yet a tactic like that would easily make those non soda lovers interested.Â

Chinese Future Dominance
many economists expect that China is going to overtake the United States by the year 2020 and becoming the worldâs largest economy. However, does becoming the worldâs largest economy mean that fall of US dominance?
In the article above, the writer explains that with the success of China it does not imply that America will be in decline, and in order for China to succeed it needs to be innovative and competitive, Â thats why it needs America, and as much as China needs America, America also needs China.Â
I think that China has a long shot in overtaking The united states global dominance of the world, since in order to become a global dominant it doesnât only require to be the largest economy in the world, and China still lacks many things that the United states have, such as global brands and global media marketing.
Many people agree that the China rise will be disappointing to many others, based on their history and the many wars they have been through throughout the years, thats on a one hand. I saw a similar news on france 24 before i left my country. China has great potentials and a significant population. I think if they engage in a more soft power to influence the world , they can dominate the global media in the futur

Climate Change is a change in the distribution of weather patterns around the world. A good example of climatic change today is global warming. Tempertures are increasing everyday. It has been discovered that the electronic media industry plays a significant role in climate change due their constant extraction of mineral objects . Apple for example aknowledge their part of responsabilities in the climatic change nowadays by using mineral resources such as fossil fuel. Also we all know that apple is a global company and people around the world use iphones and ipads. When these devices get damaged , what do we do about them? Ofcourse we throw them and it affects the climate. Due to this the Apple company decided to take good measures in order to reduce their impact on climate change and solving the issue such as such as decreasing the materials required to make its products. Climatic change is a great issue and the media industry is looking foward to solve the problem by reducing the amount of mineral resources they use in making their products. In my Opinion i think that the electronic media industry do play a part in the climatic change problem that is happening today but there are many other factors which have more impact on the climate such as cars and plastics. I hope we shall sort in out in the nearest futur.
In Recent years we all know that America is the world leading Nation in the Media Industry mainly because of their economy and other sucessful ways they use to expand their culture. China also attempts to expand theirs but it is very difficult for china to dominate in the Media industry and expand their culture. This is because the chinese dont use what is now often called âSoft Powerâ Soft power is the act of influencing the world through soft ways such as Language , Sports and Cinema. China does not use this method. For example in the Image above, we see a military parade. It often happens in China, even during the 2008 Olympic games opening ceremony in Beijiing there was a huge millitary parade. With that, China canât Globally Influence the media in the future.. In my opinion i think China has the potential to Dominate the world wide media industry in the future because they have the economic means to do so and thatâs enough. And you what do you think?
Today in some countries, atleast 50% of the what we are watching on TV is dominated by the US media. This is because the US as the most strongest economy in the world has the capability of expandind their culture around the globe. In her discussion Dr Deborah Swallow said that America dominates in world media because of their powerful economy and because of the English Language.
