Most of 2012 April’s hate is deep rooted in misogyny.
Donnie has shown to stalk her in S2, but April gets blamed for it because she led him on so she deserves it (argument I’ve actually seen people say).
Casey has actively harassed her, touching her without her consent when she has expressed she doesn’t like to be touched, but that gets ignored. He also took advantage of April when they switched bodies in S2, immediately going to fill up her butt, and when April yelled at him and told him to stop, he laughed at her.
Raph is consistently shown to have anger issues which results in him lashing out or even hurting on his own family, but it’s okay because he secretly cares/doesn’t mean it. But when April shows any sort of negative emotion towards the Turtles, despite her constantly showing that she does love them and sees them as her family, she is the villain. (This is coming from someone who is a big fan of 2012 Raph)
Leo is often seen being mean to others in the later seasons, but he gets a pass because he’s under a lot of pressure for being leader, but when April is mean to others because she’s under a lot of pressure because her father was kidnapped or mutated and she desperately wants to find him, she’s a horrible person.
Mikey also had two love interests, constantly flirting with Shinigami when it was insinuated that he’s in a relationship with Renet (Yes he does often get criticism for this too, but not as much as April).
Is April the best? No. She has many flaws that I have discussed and acknowledged in the past. She’s also done things in the 2012 series that I didn’t like/agreed with. Some of her flaws in fact are very similar to the male characters flaws (anger issues like Raph, stubbornness like Casey, etc), but somehow she is a horrible irredeemable person.
