Gunja's Senior year!

BEST WEEK EVER. CAROLINA BEAT CLEMSON. JUST AMAZING!! The silence in my house was disturbing the entire fourth quarter as we hoped Clemson wouldn’t get a touchdown etc. THEY DID NOT!! Since 2013, USC hadn’t won against Clemson and it was a great feeling after we beat Tennessee and even better winning the Palmetto Bowl!! Anyways, this weekend was amazing! Thanksgiving was super fun and so was Black Friday shopping!! We also went to a wedding which was an experience and it was not particularly within the same religion as us, but super super fun!! 10/10 weekend and it’s sad that these blog posts are coming to an end with this class being over. I might still continue them as a way of documenting my life, I loved this class so much!! Anyways, can’t wait to go back to school tomorrow!!

To say the least this is going to be the best week ever! We only go to school Monday and Tuesday and it’s THANKSGIVING!! Monday is our pizza party and funny story. Our pizza came in and the fire alarms went off lol. We had our pizza party outside which was really fun!! Tuesday was chill in class we just worked on assignment due. I finally finished my retake and did amazing on it so a great way to finish the school week! I’m really excited for thanksgiving break because finally I don’t have a lot of school work to do and I can relax with my family! This week actually though we have a wedding to attend and when it comes to Indian weddings they are never ending! It’s going to be a great week, I can feel it!!

After such a busy day, another HOSA meeting was not what I wanted but you got to do what you got to. So on Thursday, WKHS HOSA had a game day meeting right after school. Basically I usually leave around 1:00 pm after lunch but I stayed for another 4 hours because of the meeting. My friend and I drove home then lol. It was a great meeting! Friday was AMAZING. School was okay but around 5 pm, my friend called me saying UofSC decisions came out and I was in disbelief because they come out. I opened my decision and SCREAMED. I got accepted!! Basically I have always wanted to go to UofSC Columbia!! I actually didn’t think I would get in because I thought I would be that one person who didn’t. It’s nice to know that I have the chance to go there! Anyways that was my week and I AM SUPER EXCITED!!

Started this week off with wearing overly expensive scrubs. It was the last day of HOSA week so it was sad. It was our ultimate goal to beat the afternoon seniors for the pizza party and guess what. WE DID! Everyone was pumped!! Anyways scrub day was super fun. On Wednesday we had a SC HOSA planning meeting for the state leadership conference which was super productive. I started Wednesday off with going to a LOCC club meeting then drove to downtown Columbia with Jessicia to the meeting. We had sometime before the meeting so we went to DRIP coffee in Five Points which was soo good. I got a caramel macchiato with ice and whipped cream. IT WAS SO GOOD! Then, drove to the SCDE and attend the meeting for six hours. :) So super fun but we got a lot of things done with the board of directors which was great. So SC HOSA, watch for some great things. Ended the meeting and stood outside to make TikToks at the end for about an hour which was great!

Thursday was throwback thursday which bought all my hosa memories to life again! We shared pictures from when we started HOSA to all the events up to Thursday! It was a great way to relive all the great memories. Friday. Well it was scrub day but our district canceled school due to the weather therefore it was more a at home day, but Monday we are wearing scrubs! I though scrubs just for this therefore I was a little upset. It’s the weekend now and it was really chill which made it 100% better. We ate good food and played speed. I also attended the BAPS Pramukh Swami’s 100th Birthday celebration at WKHS PAC which was amazing! Anyways great weekend!

This weekend was a much needed break. This week marks the beginning of HOSA week in which celebrate the founding on HOSA in 1976 in Arlington, Texas. It’s basically a spirit week capturing the key values of HOSA. International HOSA has their own HOSA week and we, SC HOSA do our own as well within the week in combination. Monday was mental health monday in which we wore lime green. This highlighted our state service project, NAMI! Tuesday was Happy Birthday HOSA in which everyone celebrated the founding of HOSA! Wednesday was mismatched be the match which was SC HOSA idea when we went to WLA! Seeing that into action my international HOSA was truly amazing!! Live laugh love HOSA!

Studying. Studying. Studying. It is what you could describe this week. I had a HOSA board of directors meeting which I attending in my polo and shorts. I studied for my AP Biology Unit 3 Cellular energeries test. Got my grade back today. I am in awe. I studied so much but still failed. It is disappointing because I truly tried my hardest and then receiving that just has bought me down. I do so much and the one thing that provides me satisfaction didn’t. I know I can only grow from this. Therefore this weekend I am completing the retake work and retaking the multiple choice questions on monday and free response on Wednesday. Hopefully that will help. Anyways, right now I am disappointed to say the least. :(

Well this week had been fun so far. My school has this program called the Center for public health and advanced medical studies and they hosted a blood drive. Also I am not apart of their HOSA chapter I was lucky enough to help out! They were over 50 people who donated blood through Blood Connections. It was a unique expierence especially since most of the donors were students. It was fun seeing how different people react to getting their blood drawn. Some past out while some want to go to sleep. Personally, I didn’t want to donate just because I haven’t ever gotten my blood drawn. Therefore, I didn’t know how I would react to it so I didn’t do it. Anyways that was fun! :)

SPACE JAMS BABY!! This Friday, my school held their 2nd annual trunk or treat for kids in the community. Our national honors society hosts it and my friends and I decided to have trunks there for kids to come get candy from. My friend, Taylor and I’s car was Space Jams themed in which she was Lola and her boyfriend was Bunny. Of course, I was Tweety! Jessica and Yoyo’s car was Monsters INC themed which was super cool. We definitely confirmed that our car was better mainly since we had a basketball hoop! It was overall a super fun experience! We received service hours and gave candy to little kids which meant ten out of ten experience! Love NHS and White Knoll for sponsoring this event!!

SPIRIT WEEK!! This week is spirit week at my school therefore you can never miss out on a fun way to celebrate school spirit with your friends. The picture to the left shows my friends and I on scrabble day! Basically you wore a letter on your shirt. Being HOSA fanatics and state officers, we decided to show our HOSA spirit and have H-O-S-A on us for the day! It was super fun! Then later this week, my friends and I also toured USC Columbia campus as many of us want to attend UofSC. We had lunch at Russell House, which had a wide range of dining options. The campus is super pretty around this time with the cooler weather. It was such a fun experience especially because our school took us! Definitely love UofSC and can’t wait to one day attend their Columbia campus!! So far this week has been off to a great start!

Now its Thursday and I have procrastinated on my BI Literature review and I am finally getting to it. Friday is the day that grades have to be turned in therefore I am retaking my AP Bio test Thursday. Hopefully I do well. Friday is here and I am ready for this weekend of nothing. Every weekend since school has started as been so busy. Besides it being the week of Indian festivities, it’s being pretty chill. Here is my BeReal from today, Sunday, of putting candles outside for Diwali. Diwali is the festival of lights which occurring before the upcoming Indian New Year! It is super fun and I love that my parents have raised me to know what these festivals are and how to properly celebrate them.

This weekend we celebrated an Indian festival for our temple. We all dressed in our traditional Indian clothes and celebrate the joy of the Indian new year and the birthday of our guru. When we have Indian festival we take a ton, I mean a ton of pictures. We decorate the place it is being hosted with passion. We make a variety of Indian and American dishes! We invite people from all over to come celebrate this auspicious day with us! It is super fun and has been a tradition really since I’ve been alive. Basically for 17 years and probably even before that.

This Thursday as President of SC HOSA, I had the pleasure of attending the Fall Leadership Conference that SC HOSA state officers host!! It was super fun! We played a marshmallow team building game and hosted a competitive events fair for students to come and learn about more events. My very close friends from my local chapter also came with students from my school and I had a great time meeting them. I can’t wait for our state leadership conference since this event had over 640 people, SLC is going to be a blast in March!! This week is going to be busy and can’t wait to share more.

This weekend has been one for the books! We have a festival coming up next week at our temple so we have been preparing decorations! We created a mini community with a mini coffee which shows the concept of working together leading overall profit and happiness. See that mini coffee shop is mini mini like it’s an overall very tedious task which requires patience. According to everyone I know, I don’t have that, so it was fun to see how I still completed that portion of the project!! We had many snack runs, including fries from McDonalds that the kids loved and a late night sonic run!! Overall it was really fun and we can’t wait to see the results next weekend.

Tiring is the best way to describe this week. After traveling and etc I have been just tired lol. Due to hurricane Ian our governor called a state of emergency in which we didn’t have school Monday. Then this Friday we have no school because of teacher parent conferences in our district. Basically it’s been a lot of cramming in assignments so I don’t get behind. Therefore it’s been stressful. One good thing that happened to me was I got accepted into my first college!! So that was really fun!! Can’t wait for more acceptances!! This week so far has been very mellow but this weekend is going to be busy!!

On that Twilight Tour, we also saw the WW2 memorial around the perfect time. The sun was setting and it was calling our names to take pictures is what it truly felt like. The next day, we went to the Capitol in what HOSA called “HOSA on the Hill '' or “Advocacy Day'' where we got to talk to our state’s senators and representatives about the Perkins legislation along with anything else we wanted. My person was Senator Tim Scott and I got to talk to his assistant about HOSA and how we appreciate their help in funding all CTE schools in SC and how we would appreciate the continued support. It was really cool to be given such an amazing opportunity. Also, the air and space museum was closed but we went somewhere else and got to see an astronaut suit which was like a dream come true since I hope to become a aerospace medicine physician.
