did he always have to be so forward?!!? sucking on her bottom lip for a moment, lucy smiles right back. “heh, is that so?” she rolls her eyes playfully.

watching him pick up the pocky stick, lucy can feel a shiver running up her back. excitement? adrenaline? nerves? she wasn’t sure. taking a moment, she scoots forward in her chair, and locks her eyes with his, trying to ignore that wink that gave her butterflies and made her cheeks tinge pink. “all right, loki. i’m game! but– no cheating!” 

To say he’s surprised she agreed would be an understatement. He hadn’t actually expected her to agree, he was just waiting for the usually ‘in your dreams’ before he was shooed away.

she was in the middle of a conversation with mira at the guild hall when loki appeared behind her, nearly scaring her half to death for showing up unannounced– she really should be used to it by now. “loki! why are you here and not in the–” she paused, suddenly realizing it was pocky day.

“you’re not really here for pocky day?! … are you?!” she side glances at the open container of pocky on the table and can already feel the beads of sweat run down her back.

The spirit allows a cheeky grin to spread across his face and he approaches the bar, leaning against it next to her. “ Why not? I’ve never gotten to play with someone I loved before. ”

He knew she didn’t take his declarations of love seriously, but he couldn’t help himself. Raising a hand, he takes one of the cookies from the box, raising it to his mouth and playfully winking at his summoner.

maybe it’s how warm her body is. that contrasted with gray’s cold skin creating almost an equal balance that put her at ease and only made her more comfortable, but it was hard not to relax like this. the gentle squeeze on her leg makes erza re-open brown eyes, hearing the tail end of gray’s words. “if you were about to call me heavy, you’d be wearing my armor for a week.” the grin he shoots her makes her smile. it was nice, not having to be her usual self around him. 

he says her name and erza’s eyes open slowly. “…mm?” oh. talk? but what about. “g-ray–” she can feel his thumb graze against her bare leg. flame empress armor torn and battered around her, just like her. “i’m f-ine.” she protests, trying to rest her head back down, but that thumb, makes her open her eyes again. 

“do you.. remember when we were kids?” she pauses, to cough into her elbow, was that red? “you know, it’s all th-anks to you that fairy tail’s my– home.” there’s another pause, and she feels hot again. “s-top fighting so much with natsu. i hate it .. when you both fight.”

He huffs out a laugh at the thought of wearing her armor, shaking his head slightly. No, that wouldn’t be fun, so he was glad he wasn’t.

The way she spoke made his nerves buzz to life and Gray tightened his hold on her, squeezing her thigh gently. “ Come on, Erza, keep going. ”

watching him duck his head down, lucy sighs lightly, setting her brown eyes upon him. when he looked like that, how could she stay mad at him? “it’s okay, natsu.”

his uncomfortable yell, makes lucy bite her lip as she tries to work quickly. she’s so focused she almost doesn’t realize what he’s just done. when he mumbles sorry and the burnt smell reaches her nose, lucy’s face falls. “… my couch!” she looks at the spot his hand has left burn marks, and her shoulder’s slump as she hangs her head. “awww.. i really liked this one too!” 

it takes her a moment but she goes right back to dressing the wound. placing a patch of gauze down, his words reach her ear and she smiles. “heh, thanks. it’s not the best but, as long as you’re feeling better, that’s what’s important.” taping the gaze down she wipes her hands with a smile. “there, how’s that feel? can you move okay?”

His expression mirrored that of Happy’s when the cat did something he felt bad for and Natsu made sure to keep his hands away from the couch so he didn’t accidentally burn it again. “ I’ll buy you a new one? ” He offers, trying to make his friend feel better.

As soon as she goes back to dressing his injury, another hiss slips passed his lips and a small huff of fire slips passed his lips before he bites down on his tongue. He’d gotten used to Wendy’s healing, so it caught him off guard to feel the burn of the antiseptic. He normally was unconscious during this part.

at the mention of jellal a smile alights on the young dragon slayer’s lips. it’s as bright as the sun. she missed him. “..yeahhhh. he can be a little testy, but he means well! he can be a real big softy when he wants to be!” she laughs, thinking back to when they’d first met. it really had been a long time since she last saw him, huh? “would you tell jellal and everyone i said hello? you guys really should stop by more often!”

a hand comes to rest on her head, and blush rises onto the tops of her cheeks as she shies her gaze away with a nervous laugh and smile before her eyes find his again. “hey, cobra? don’t be a stranger, okay? we may be in different guilds, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends.”

“ Jellal? A softy? Are we talking about the same man here? ” Erik grins slightly, a deep chuckle following his words as he fondly shakes his head. He knew the girl was right, Jellal could be quite the soft hearted man at times, but it was always fun to tease, even if he wasn’t there to tease directly. “ Yeah, I’ll tell them, don’t worry about it, kid. Can’t promise we’ll visit too often, though, we have a lot to do, a lot of people to take down, but we’ll try. ”

He can’t help but cringe at the use of his old moniker, raising a hand to the back of his head. He’d gotten so used to being called Erik again that if caught him off guard, though he supposed he understood why others may use it for him still. After all, most of the Fairy Tail brats were still calling him Cobra, so it shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise.

Of course this had to happen to them.

The guild was traveling in a group for once and due to the number of them, the carriage ended up not having enough room for them all to have their own seats. Normally Erik would have gone off on his own in the situation, but much to his dismay, Jellal wanted them to stay as a group for a bit. That’s how they ended up in this position with Sorano sitting in his lap and his gaze glued outside the carriage, hands glued to the seat beside him.

His touch is gentle as he carefully glides the comb through long strands of blonde hair. He was surprised, really, that she’d asked him of all her spirits to do her hair for her, but touched all the same. Being able to do something like this for his friend was nice, even if it may be different than what he normally did for her.

A cheeky grin spreads across his face at the indignant sound his friend makes and he adjusts his hold on her so on hand is on her lower back and the other is hooked around her knees. “ Hold on, Luce!! ”

Gray can feel the heat rushing to his naturally cold face as he lays in the bed, eyes glued towards the ceiling. While normally he didn’t have an issue sharing a bed with a friend, there was something awkward about it when he didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. Glancing the blonde’s way, he watches her move around for a brief minute before quickly looking back to the ceiling, hands fidgeting above his head.

her injuries were pretty severe, erza was aware. her limbs felt heavy, and she was sure one of her ribs had been broken. her body was hot. too hot. but gray’s cool skin did help alleviate some of her own strain. in fact, it was inviting. and without realizing it, she’d shut her eyes, allowing herself to rest against him, basking in the cold his body provided.

one eye opens when his gaze meets hers, and she smirks into his shoulder. in his own way, he’s grown so much from when they were all kids. “good point.” she murmurs as he adjusts his hold on her checks their surroundings. when he does, her eyes follow his and when he begins to walk again, her smile falters. “i am not hurting you, am i? i could try and walk if that’s easier..”

“yes. i am very sure natsu and lucy can hold them off,” she agrees, resting her head back against him. “even if wendy needs a break, i’ll be fine, gray.” she smiles, reassuringly. “that’s thanks to you.” there’s a pause as she shuts her eyes again. “i do hope the mayor and everyone else are okay.” 

He can’t help but huff out a laugh at her smirk, playfully rolling his eyes at her and looking forward. At her concern, he’s quick to shake his head, giving her leg a gentle squeeze. “ Nah, you’re not hurting me. It takes more than me carrying you to hurt me. ”

Shooting her a quick, cheeky grin, he looks forward and keeps his gaze forward, focusing on the path. They shouldn’t be too far away from the town from here, he was beginning to recognize where they were, he just hopes they didn’t make it too late. The feeling of her head resting against his back was a mix of concerning and relaxing.

his touch is gentle. it’s funny. she’s usually chastising him for the way he and a lot of her spirits act around her, but right now? she almost feels empty when her hand drops from her cheek, missing his touch already.

he smiles for her, and she returns it, despite knowing how bad he must feel. and he’s not the only one. she’s to blame too. his hand lays on the bed and for a moment, her own unravels for the covers to reach for his. “i won’t, not any more.” her gaze lifts to his, hand squeezing his own. “thanks loki. not just for coming to see me today, but for always being there for me. you’ve done so much, i–” she looks away, emotion getting the better of her. “i don’t know what i’d do without you.” 

His gaze can only soften at the feeling of her hand taking hold of his and he turns his over, gently giving hers a squeeze. It always felt natural, comforting his friend and summoner this way, though he was glad she accepted it this time.

glancing up at him while her fingers work, lucy nods once. it was true, natsu had worse injuries before. regardless, she never liked seeing him so hurt. “yeah, well. it still might scar, you should be careful, natsu.” she looks up at him again, and sighs. “don’t scare me like that again, okay?” she finally smiles, happy that he’s at least being more like himself, that was a good sign at the very least. 

carefully, she removes the remnants of her torn skirt and places it on the table. inspecting the wound she shakes her head. no use in yelling at him any further about it. “okay, i’m going to clean it and wrap it up. ready?” taking a sterile antiseptic wipe she starts cleaning the dirt and blood that surrounds the gash, glancing up apologetically. “sorry! sorry! i’ll be quick! oh– i wish wendy was here.” she laughs hesitantly, “she could fix this right up, but i’ll do my best!” 

His head ducks down at her scolding and he rubs at the back of his neck slightly, shrugging his shoulders. “ I’ll try to be more careful, I’m sorry. ”

“gra–” cut off by his own words, erza stopped short. with what little strength she had left, one of erza’s hands formed into a fist and she hit gray in the chest with it, before slumping against his back, the last attempt of her putting up a fight and the last of her energy depleting. thank you, gray. 

“y-yes. i understand.” how could she be so cruel? to give up, no give in– at a time like this? she needed to be strong, needed to fight. for her friends. for the guild. for gray. 

she smiled briefly, arms wrapping around gray as she rested her head on his shoulder. finally allowing him to help her, rather than fight against him. “now who’s the one instilling faith?” she chuckled lightly against him. but her tone quickly grew more serious. “..please be careful. our enemy is still somewhere in this area,”

There’s a quiet grunt at the feeling of her fist hitting his chest, but he only tightens his hold slightly, leaning forward so it was easier for her to stay on his back. It was comforting in a weird way, feeling the weight and heat of her laying against his back, he just wished she wasn’t so badly hurt. He could only hope the natural coldness of his body helped ease her aches in some way or another.

He huffs out a laugh at her statement, glancing at her from the corner of his eyes with a small quirk of his lips. “ Who else will do it if you won’t? ” Adjusting his hold on Erza, he pauses for a moment to listen closely to their surroundings, eyes darting around before he moves again.
