yes! specifically “tag” and “hide and go seek”, however G!Burning Spice tends to be “it” every time. T!Golden Cheese will be genuinely trying to hide from him to gather her bearings, and he’ll either see it as a game, of simply weaponize his willful ignorance and chase her anyway. despite the size and general speed difference, it is fun because she can fly.

When it’s G!Golden Cheese, however, she prefers board games. Not only because it bores the tiny warlord, but also because she likes to practice her patience as he moves the pieces about the board.

“You will crumble and become dust.” His hold was tight, pushing the breath from her lungs; her ribs compressed against her heart. It hurt more than just her body. That grin. His frame blocked out the light of the sun, leaving his head a dark silhouette, save for the burning fire in his eyes. “Like… all of those trinkets you treasured so.”

Would she fall like this? To the man who had destroyed everything she cared for? Everything… and everyone she loved.

The faint sound of Smoked Cheese Cookie’s pleas fell on deaf ears from the both of them; Burning Spice because he was too endorsed in his torturous craft, and Golden Cheese because of the blood pounding in her head. She gripped the edge of his palm, groaning. The groaning shifted rather quickly to a scream as the muscles in her back tightened, her wings torn from her with a quick shift of his fingers.

He tensed beneath her as he felt the crack, and then the snap of muscle and skin tearing. He composed himself rather quickly, however, dropping her on the ground and cheering to the sky. “That was too easy! Little bird, you were far weaker than I’d expected.” He glanced down, the flame in his soul chilling as his gaze landed on the woman, crumpled on the ground. Blood dripped from her bare back to the dusty ground.

He let his shoulders drop for only a moment. Then he growled. “Pathetic.”

OKAY SO ACTUALLY LOVE THIS

dark cacao is a quiet kind of angry when it comes to someone who is physically weaker or smaller than him.

he is also very against physical touch, and so is she; they are two sides of the same coin

she isn’t exactly angry about her predicament. she doesn’t mind being small; being pitied—because people leave her alone. she isn’t as power hungry as the other beasts.

sometimes he sits near her after a long day and just stares towards the open window and asks her to talk. they discuss resolution and apathy, overall they discuss will.

he questions her beliefs because it widens his views.

she answers because this is all she has.

“do you miss fighting for what you believe is right?… even now, when you can’t fight any longer?”

“i miss nothing. i will deal with what i have. we both yearn for the world to be the way we want it to be, but in the end, we both cannot fight what is destined to happen.”

he taps the table and stands up.

“i appreciate your time…”

so yeah, she’s definitely isolated herself into thinking about existence a lot. he doesn’t want her to feel alone because as solitary as he is he knows how it feels to THINK you don’t need anyone and you really do.

i think that after everything mystic flour and dark cacao would have the healthiest relationship out of the beasts and ancients (so far). they don’t resent eachother and they don’t ever try to hurt eachother.

he definitely doesn’t forgive her, though. the only way that he can cope with the perceived loss of his allies and friends is by understanding why she did it. i think they have a very interesting relationship and i’d like to think about it more.

generally? she sits on the windowsill a lot or floats near lit candles. he sometimes walks in to the room and she’s just on a shelf or in a box and he just stopped questioning it after a while.. she’s a little mysterious but i love her. give a tiny the ability to fly and they’ll end up in the weirdest places, but she likes to meditate so that’s where you’ll find her 😭

after the ancients awaken, they can change their size too, but only very rarely. (in my au)

G!burning spice (i love him)

-definitely pushes GC to her limits. he’ll grab her out of the air and bring her with him

-i love angst but in my personal opinion he’d be a little more gentle with her when she’s so small

-awh

-if he’s bored he’ll hold her in his hand like a stress toy, running his thumb across her back and her wings. she certainly doesn’t particularly enjoy that; because of past events, but yeah

-burning spice is in no way submissive but it’s so funny to imagine gc and g!burning spice in the “down boy” meme 😭 she’s certainly authoritarian

-on a serious note, i feel like he’d just grin at her if she tells him to do something, with the same look he always has, one filled with pure yearning for destruction.

-except when it’s towards her it’s just a little more gentle. even if this seems like a nice thing he’s doing, he knows it bothers her because he still sees her as a weak person. it hurts her ego for him to look at her and not want to fight her because he doesn’t think she can handle him.

-if this was prior to them “settling” the soul jam dispute (by her kicking his ass) then i feel like he’d love to smack her out of the air like a fly or smt. she’d always get back up again and he’d secretly admire her perserverence but also hate it.

-the moment he tears off her wings he’s holding her in his hands and CHANGE MY MIND, but his heart stops for a minute. seeing something so small, a creature so little and insignificant give up her everything in order to protect those she loves? that flipped something in him

-no he never apologized. not directly anyway. neither of them forgot about it, but they don’t talk about it anymore.

-she is not scared of him because she’s a baddie but she is wary of what he can do.

G!golden cheese (i love her more)

-will take 0 disrespect from anyone, let alone burning spice.

-she’s less touchy, but she’ll definitely place him near her throne and flick him when he misbehaves

-once they warm up to eachother, she’ll still not be very gentle with him.

-if the wing-tearing off stuff would have happened, then she would have been regular sized until her awakening.

-when she does awaken, however, she is PISSED.

-. pinning him to the floor beneath her heel/hand and telling him to beg for forgiveness because she’s a diva, and wants to make him feel as low as he possibly can.

-she won’t kill him, though, no. she’s not like that!! she’s a hero after all.

-oh my god he fucking hates all of this. can’t even begin to explain how much he despises the situation.

-GC doesn’t really love physical touch but she’ll grab him and move him just to make him feel insignificant, or randomly push him down and pin him to the armrest and just laugh at him. HUMILITU!!

some fluffier ones

-she perches on his shoulder like a bird

-he insists he can keep up with her and she’s like “fine.” but if she needs to carry him, he’s goin in a pocket or somewhere far away from the soul jam/her wings.

-he’s touchy and likes to have her near him. when this is not to be horrible to her, it’s to make sure she’s safe. no way in HELLL would he ever tell her that tho 😭

-she’s anti-physical but will talk to him. she never feeds his ego, tho.

misc

-they never really become close friends. they both had massive power trips, as in each AU they both were giants at one point. and they treated eachother like shit.

-obviously gc got the bad end with her entire kingdom being destroyed butttt

-they’re both, in my opinion, one of the strongest (physically) of their categories. like burning spice is buff af and durable. and even tho gc usually has low HP in the game, she’s strong af in the lore.

-so they fuck with eachother when one of them is small.

-i like to think, overall, they don’t do it to try to kill eachother anymore. just to piss eachother off.

they’re honestly toxic and bad for eachother but in a universe where they could be friends this is how i see it! a little AU information, none of the beasts ever become friends with the ancients, they just learn to tolerate each other. 😔 maybe as the story develops i’ll consider some shadowvanilla /p relationship stuff, because shadow does want to be friends w him , BUT STILL!!!

Shadow milk cookie: Act like he doesn’t like it but secretly wants it (I saw the end of chapter 8 it was close to them being friends)

black sapphire cookie: would be confused but appreciates it

candy apple cookie: brain doesn’t work because she doesn’t know actual affection due to being obsessed for shadow milk cookie

YESS!!! I love this!!

If PV were to scoop SM up, hold him and tell him things that happened in the day because SM can’t experience normal anymore.

i’ll do drabbles for them eventually, however here’s a HC list for now:

SM:

- Hated affection at first. Hated being touched, being moved, anything like that.

- PV allowed SM to simply be by himself for a while, but eventually shadow becomes bored. it’s boring being so little and not able to climb around or fly and explore like he used to, so he starts overestimating himself and getting himself in trouble. so PV becomes a lot more touchy to “keep him safe”.

- shadow never really warms up to the touch, but he does begin to request it and accept it’s just a fact he has to deal with.

-pv has poor vision aswell, which just makes him all the more needy to be constantly aware of where the tiny jester is. physical touch is so comforting to him :(

- PV doesn’t talk much about the friend thing. he suggested it, and isn’t going to push it.

- shadow is considering it. but he can’t bring himself and his ego to do what PV wants, despite if it’s better for him.

- PV brings gifts for shadow sometimes. little trinkets, flowers, etc—because he knows how it sucks to be trapped in a jar… cough.. cough…

- shadow never returns much affection except for the rare moments he’ll stop acting like a stray cat and will actually lean into the touch of the healer.

- to be clear, shadow is very unhappy about all of this. he’s uncomfortable and PV knows it. but since PV is in control, what he thinks is better for shadow is what will ultimately be better…

-they eventually accommodate eachother but there’s a lot of angst in between bc sometimes untimely affection and love equates discomfort, especially with someone who’s never experienced it.

black sapphire/candy apple:

- this guy loves testing his durability. he also loves fucking with CA, which ends in the both of them getting hurt sometimes.

- PV obliges to heal them because he cares, and black sapphire usually tries to hide away so he isn’t healed. he doesn’t want to depend on anyone, not even his master—why would he want to depend on the enemy?

-candy apple loves climbing all over PV once she gets over the fact he’s supposed to be the antagonist in this story. he tends to not notice until it’s too late

-he cups her in his hands and holds them behind his back. she squirms like a moth, and when she’s finally let out she’s usually in some kind of container.

-always cries her way out of it tho. she’s a manipulator, a trickster, it’s her thing.

-pv does try to get to them, he really tries to communicate. but they never listen, and he feels like he’s raising children, very tiny children…

-but his p/love language to the both of them would be gift giving.

-neither of them say thank you

i really need to come up with a name for this AU 😭 but yes yes

they do start off small! during the time when shadow milk loses his abilities, he also loses the ability to un-transform the cards into actual cookies. (or rather people…)

anyway, candy apple and black sapphire are for a short time stuck as cards before they’re changed back to humans…. at card size. (for reference, shadow milk is around 3 inches, and the CA and black sapphire as cards are around 3.2-3.4 inches.)

sapphire is a little bit taller than Shadow Milk and ofc sapphire thinks this is the funniest thing ever—but candy apple is freaking out!! she wants to help her master but he’s literally so weak now she can’t do much.

it takes a while, but over time as the magic wears off they return to normal. however, shadow milk is still stuck small. as much as i love candy apple she’d be very annoying during this, constantly nagging PV to see shadow milk and talk to him. During this, SM is anxious to see anyone because it’s easy for him to be scary but not to be scared. he’s simply not used to it.

now onto potential future ideas that aren’t locked into place.

i’m weighing my options with PV getting paranoid about candy apple/ black sapphire accidentally (or on purpose who knows…) hurting SM when he’s not there. perhaps he starts taking the little guy around with him when he needs to do things? dunno!

yes! he’s definitely very fatherly to the three when they’re all small. especially candy apple because she’s very childish and will get into trouble—he likes to be able to keep watch on her. redemption is still something he believes they can achieve but only if they live, so for now he brings them star jellies and cares for them.
