(... Too late. Turns out I was spoiled about everything 🫠)

Still sorting out my thoughts on it. So far I feel the characters were pretty under baked, but the concepts were awesome.

That being said, I was in a weird head space tonight, even before putting it on. so I'll ruminate on it longer and maybe watch it again before I decide where I land.

Now I think the only movie I have to knock off my list is Project Hail Mary.

I actually got spoiled for that one years ago, because my sister told me all about this awesome book she was reading at the time. So I'm less butt hurt about the thumbnails and fan art I've seen (Eridian Welcoming Committee I love you 💕).

I'll probably be able to see it in a couple of weeks.

Then I can FINALLY dive into all this Bloodymary stuff!

Less interested in the shippy aspects. I just think the parallels and contrasts between the stories are quite compelling.

I'm a little bit sad that I'm coming to the end of the list of new films I actually want to watch, though.

Anyone got recs?

Ideal scenario would be something adventure/story driven.

I don't like romance, but I can deal with it if it's 1) very well written, and 2) a side point rather than the main plot.

Dark/horror themes are cool, if they are creative and don't follow the usual dark G/t trends. Just looking for something new.

Fanfics welcome, even if I don't know the source material. :)

Yeah, I know. I should probably just write something myself if I'm going to be so picky. But those are just the preferences I'm feeling right now. They're not strict guidelines or anything.

It took us a while because of the weather, but we got three of our new fruit trees planted and fenced up! (Two honey crisp and one ambrosia)

Now that the apples are in, we've just got our two peaches, and then we'll be done! 🍎🍏🍑

Besides maintaining them, I dunno what my next project should be.

I've been digging holes in the yard for the last few days, because we're planting fruit trees.

It's been a hugely frustrating task, because the ground here is chock-a-block full of big stones and boulders.

But there is something satisfying about just having one straight forward goal with a visible result. Especially when you can take your time and do it the way you want.

It started raining yesterday, and it looks like it's going to get worse for the rest of the week.

Now I'm stuck inside and I'm getting so antsy, because I can't dig.

What the heck?

I'm not even an outdoorsy person.

I hate bugs, I hate being too hot, and I'm not a huge fan of being dirty.

How did I get addicted to digging holes? That's a thing that can happen??

Except I still get cravings so bad I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind. 😭

I was assured these would be gone by now, but my lord, the things I would do for a bag of jalapeno Doritos right now.

Keto snacks suck. Especially the chocolate ones.

Despite losing weight, I haven't noticed any health changes. No extra energy, no change in the pressure in my head, nothing like that.

In fact, I'd say I feel more lethargic than ever. Though that could just be the seasonal affective disorder.

But things worked out, surprisingly, and I went to see it today with my dad! (Who hates horror but wanted to come anyway)

My expectations had been tempered by the non spoiler reviews I saw, and honestly? Both me and my dad really enjoyed it! (Which shocked me! I was sitting there the whole time just thinking, aw man, he must be miserable 😓)

I was predisposed to like Iron Lung, since I love eldritch sci-fi strangeness and would have wanted to see this even if it wasn't a big success story for indi filmmaking.

People said Mark's acting was hit or miss, but since I don't really follow his work on YouTube, I wasn't struggling to separate him and Simon. So frankly, I thought he did a really good job. Especially with his voice.

Yes, I completely agree that some of the scenes could have been edited for better flow. But at the same time, I love me a slow burn, so I enjoyed watching him figure things out as he went.

The radio voices were hard for me, since I already have audio processing issues. So yeah, can't wait to watch this at home with subtitles. 😅

All in all, I really liked it, and it'll be rotating in my noodle for a while. Can completely see why other people would have a miserable time, though.

Four stars out of five.

One star deducted for pacing and audio, which could have been tighter.

I only get the chance to see one or two movies in theaters a year, and I'm not sad this was one of them :)
