At just 11 years old, Nehemiah Turner has reached an incredible milestone through the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Pawsitive Reading program.

Nehemiah began visiting the shelter to read aloud to animals waiting to be adopted, helping give them calm, comfort and companionship. After logging 100 hours, he became the first child in the program’s history to reach the milestone.

One of the dogs he regularly read to was Hopper, who had spent nearly 400 days at the shelter before eventually finding a home.
