i love mal’s anger and resentment i love how he doesn’t care about ravka but he does care about alina i love how he is self-sacrificing & doesn’t know how to process his grief i love how alina describes him as ‘cold’ and ‘alien’ because his trauma changes him so much i love how we can see a visible difference in his character after he finds the stag & how he goes from being loud and cocky to quiet and stoic i love him fucking up and learning from his mistakes i love how he uses unhealthy coping mechanisms but during r&r we see him become even braver than before i love how he is messy and imperfect and flawed i love how he is able to aid alina through her grief i love how he is readily willing to die for alina because he feels he has no self worth i love that his grief and trauma changes him and he still survives and comes out the other side willing to love and hope again. i love him being a realistic and human character. i love rooting for him & seeing him begin to heal and process his trauma properly. i love mal oretsev
