Finally made an updated NEGODYAI model sheet. He has been on and off the project but now he is back in the story after a new sudden change. He's no longer a monstrous looking thing which didn't belong, but now just a timid innocent shy little guy with too much leg (front legs anyway; his back legs are a slightly bit shorter) and needs more meat on his bones. Also wants nothing more than to please his father, who is kind of apathetic towards him, which reflects his father's own insecurities. Like father, like son.

Measuring 30 cms (12") to the top of his head he's pretty sizeable, and with a weighted body he can actually sit still! Quite a comparison!

I've been slowly chipping away at the Avian August challenge in my private time! So far I'm keeping pace - here's a selection of some of my favourites I've done from the first 13 days! I intend to compile all 31 images into a digital zine once the challenge is over, so STAY TUNED! it's been fun to spend more time on bird drawings beyond quicker commissions and to challenge myself by not drawing them all floating in middair lol.

While this isn't news to anyone who works in this space, it is useful to have this water-is-wet research to affirm that Indigenous knowledge and land management are extremely effective at storing carbon and protecting biodiversity.

I want to draw special attention to this part of the article:

I get a fair number of asks and comments on my posts expressing sentiments like "human beings are a plague on this Earth", "humans ruin everything, we deserve to be wiped out", "humanity is inherently selfish, evil, and irredeemable".

I don't think the folks saying these things have bad intentions, I know their words come from a place of very understandable pain, fear, and anger. But to act as though humanity's impact on nature is inherently damaging and extractive is to erase thousands of years of Indigenous stewardship of nature. These ecosystems are thriving because there are humans living there.
