sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind

I love my country, but today I realize it is more flawed than I could have ever known. This nation did not vote with their hearts or with a sense of empathy for others. Our nation decided and voted out of hatred and fear. I have to ask, where is our compassion?

I am dismayed by the implications this election will induce. I am afraid for immigrants, non-white citizens, the LGBTQ community, women, and the disabled. My heart goes out to all those struggling to cope with the brutal reality of our nation’s current mindset. Our country cannot become great again if it’s ideals are rooted in exclusion and division. I am not inclined to give up this sacred fight for equality, and cannot sit by and excuse America’s lapse in humanity.
