i’ve done something i promised someone else i wouldn’t. i’ve done something i promised myself i wouldn’t. i’ve snuck out. i’ve lied to my parents about where i am.  i’ve cheated while playing a game. i’ve ran a red light. i’ve witnessed a crime. i’ve been in a fist fight. i’ve been arrested.

DEATH AND SUICIDE

i’m afraid of dying. i hate funerals. i’ve seen someone/something dying. someone close to me has attempted/committed suicide. i’ve written a eulogy for myself.

            “Don’t be sorry nothing to be sorry for, It’s not the first time I’ve been yelled at, Probably wont  be the last either , I’m used to it by now” he shrugged a little and ran his hand through the hair on the back of his head as he always did when he was nervous. Why did he always get nervous speaking to them. He’d had the gift years, you would of  thought he of gotten used to it by now .

       “A little surprised that someone can actually see you and isn’t walking through you like everyone else …that really can’t be the best thing in the world, I know i’d hate not being seen” he thought for a few moments “ And it’s not a stupid question I can see and hear you clearly”  he’d started to ramble he really needed to learn to control that habit. 

      “I know all about long time’s this gift is such a curse , I was born with it and ever since have been freaking people out when I phase into talking to spirits they tried to lock me away once claiming i was psychopathic….wait you really don’t need to know that. But anyway I’m Atticus….friendly weird spirit talker kinda person I guess” ——Oversharing again this really had to stop before he said something and he ended up in trouble 

        This is... this is a lot of information to process at once. Especially since he’d been spending most of his time simultaneously coping with and ignoring the fact that no one could see him, and to be jolted out of that train of thought so abruptly has left him disoriented. And he doesn’t really know how to deal with Atticus’ response, or introduction, or this new information he suddenly has about him. 

        For a solid ten seconds, all he can do is stare, before some part of brain kicks in and tells him to get a move on and respond before he’s left alone again.

            “Well… It must serve some purpose, then, right?                  Even if it’s selfish.” Even if unnecessary.              The sense of nostalgia reminds her he had once been very much alive,             blood coursing through his now figurative veins. “What do you miss?” 

       “The purpose of making my afterlife miserable, sure.” It’s deadpan, and he’s not smiling, but he does consider that a joke ( even if it doesn’t really seem like it ).

        It’s better not to think about it, because if he does, it’s easy to get caught up in missing everything, to go through lists and lists of food in his head an use that as a jumping off point to think about everything else he no longer has access to. So he meets the question with an uncomfortable shrug.
