Las Coloradas houses a famous salt estuary renowned for its rich pink waters, located in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The tiny fishing village welcomes it desolate yet strikingly beautiful landscape to numerous tourists from around the globe to see the unbelievable rosy pink waters surrounded by pillars and mountains of white salt banks. The unique colour of the wetland reserve is attributed to a combination of a high quantity of red plankton and brine shrimp populating it, where the natural chemicals from its bodies dyes the water.
