Gray tree frog friend

Today I was blessed by sighting two beautiful tree frogs in my own backyard. One of them decided to jump on me and climb around for a while, probably finding that he blends quite nicely with my top.

Fun fact! the one in the back of the first photo is pooping!

These mites are hitching a ride on this carrion beetle. They have a symbiotic relationship- the Carrion beetle acts as transportation for the mites, bringing them to food sources they cannot reach on foot. And the mites eat the eggs and freshly hatched fly larvae that compete with the carrion beetle for food. The mites do not hurt the beetle, although, this one does seem very annoyed by them.

Some recent animal bone finds. The large bone in the second picture is a cow jaw bone. A few people have said it's a horse bone but I'm pretty sure cow. :) the other ones are all deer
