The novel follows Clegg, a bored office clerk turned kidnapper, and Miranda, his obsession. The kidnapping takes place early in the novel and the rest of the novel consists of interactions amongst Clegg and Miranda. It was very interesting to read Clegg’s thoughts and to see how he justifies his actions.

The other half of the novel consists of Miranda’s journal while being kidnapped. Miranda’s journal offers a view into her current feelings and emotions as well as her struggles outside of her imprisonment. 

This 283 page psychological thriller will have you wishing for more, especially after reading the ending. 

Anxiety: That thing that keeps you up at night.

Nights have been horrible as of lately. Falling asleep is not a huge struggle, but remaining asleep is a complete war. I have been waking up numerous times throughout the night with a severe sense of worry and stress and I cannot seem to find the source. I have been taking my medication regularly and overall I feel fine..... throughout the day at least. 

Complaints aside, I finally started the book: The Collector by John Fowles, and I am hooked! I am only about 50 pages in and so much has happened already! The main character, Clegg, and Joe Goldberg from You are very much alike and I am very much excited. If you have not watched the show yet, please do. (Better yet, read The Collector!)

What else have I been up to? Asked nobody. Well, I got around to watching the documentary series Don’t F**ck With Cats and it was pretty damn good. The three part doc series is on Netflix and it follows an internet group that is trying to stop Luka Magnotta, a kitten torturer turned murderer. It is all pretty fucked up and bizarre!

First review of the year goes to Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. This novel has been on my “To Read” list for a couple of years now. I was incredibly excited when I found it at my local used bookstore.

I rate this novel 3 out of 5 stars.

I was a bit disappointed from the beginning with the writing style. I found the authors writing style a bit muddled. The author tends to use the phrase “but I will get to that later” many times throughout the book, causing multiple flashbacks to end up clustered together.

I would like to introduce myself as a lover of books, animals, food, true crime, horror, and other oddities. I am very much socially anxious and weird. I lack social skills and prefer the company of my pet chinchilla.

I forgot to mention I am incredibly clumsy, always running into nonmoving objects and tripping over invisible furniture.
