How to Make a Vintage Campfire Marshmallow Tin

A Cozy Primitive Craft Tutorial

There’s something about old-fashioned pantry tins that just feels like home — especially when they’re wrapped in a classic Campfire Marshmallow label. Whether you’re decorating a farmhouse kitchen, building a s’mores station, or creating handmade gifts, a Campfire tin is one of the easiest primitive crafts you can make.

Step 1 — Measure Your Tin

Before gluing anything, wrap your label around the tin dry.

Make sure:

The design lines up evenly

The ends meet without too much overlap

The height fits the tin

Trim if needed.

Step 2 — Cut Your Label

Use scissors or a paper cutter for clean edges.

If you’re going for a primitive look, slightly imperfect edges can add character — especially once distressed.

Step 3 — Apply the Glue

Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge (or craft glue) onto the tin surface.

Work in sections so the glue doesn’t dry too fast.

Step 4 — Wrap the Label

Carefully press the label onto the glued tin.

Smooth as you go to remove:

Air bubbles

Wrinkles

Lifting edges

A credit card or scraper works great for smoothing.

Step 5 — Seal the Label

Brush a light coat of Mod Podge over the label to seal it.

This protects the print and gives it that vintage lacquered look.

Let dry completely.

(Optional: Spray with clear matte sealer for extra durability.)

Step 6 — Distress for a Primitive Finish

If you love that aged farmhouse style:

Lightly sand the edges

Rub brown ink or coffee stain on corners

Add tiny scuffs for wear
