CARPE NOCTEM HIATUS

For a moment, Joker was disappointed the fight had ended so soon. He pouted and squinted at Bruce, but a moment later, the cheery smile returned. “Was that a joke, Mr. Wayne? Usually, I’d insist to be the only one telling the jokes, but I’ll give you a pass for helping out my man. Besides, you’re pretty and I like looking at you.” He winked and waved his gun.

“Go on. Head to the service elevator. You and I are going for a ride.”

This is going to be a minor inconvenience for a few days.  By night at the latest, Dick will have found Bruce and rescued him, neutralizing the Joker.  Then Bruce will spend the next few days in the press cycle, being asked about how it felt to have his life endangered, and so on and so forth.  In a few weeks, people will be over it.

This stopped being fun awhile ago. It’s about time they fled from the scene. It may be an embarrassing way to end a confrontation but this is NOT something they enjoy talking about. They take a cautious step back and glare at him, “ I don’t need anyone. I can take care of myself- “

Self-Sacrifice to Save Everyone

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. You knew your death would save countless others, and you were willing to accept that. You went out like a hero, and you will be remembered as one by those whose lives outweighed yours.

Joker’s eyes lit up. “That sounds just like the sort of fun I love!” He grinned, and his whole body seemed to elevate from the glee abundantly glimmering in his avid gaze. “C’mon, darling, you know you want to punish me. Besides, since you won’t kill me anymore, why not let everyone else have a shot? You shouldn’t be so greedy and keep me all to yourself, you know~” The clown winked.

After reeling from the shock, Bruce Wayne picks up the pup.

Joker wriggled and fought even as he hung in the air. He let out a soft grunt when he fell on his back onto the bed, but he was quick to spring up, armed with a pillow. He started to beat Batman over the head with the pillow. Sure, it caused no harm, but it was certainly annoying and that was all the reason he needed.

“Why do you care so much about her? Are you into her? Is that it? You’re dating blond psychiatrists now? Am I not good enough for you anymore?!” He doubled his efforts, throwing the blanket towards Batman’s face just so he could leap after it and tackle the Caped Crusader. “I’m not telling you shit!”

Batman barely feels the pillow.  That doesn’t stop him from yanking it out of the Joker’s hands, though.  The less distractions there are, the sooner Batman can get an answer out of the Joker.  He’s already wasted too much time talking to the jester, only acquiring one lead in the process.

Jason rolled his eyes extensively, anger flickering low in his stomach. Fucking this again. The use of his vigilante name grated on him and his response was more snarl and cold fury than anything else. “I never liked any rules, you know that. But I leave their hearts beating, B. And that’s the only fucking rule I’ll follow. The guns are just guns. Tools in the arsenal. You wanna roll up the GCPD too? Take out the NRA? Or am I just special?”
