Hi! You can call me Goose (she/her) - I’m an American student starting a masters in Archaeology. I will be studying in the UK for at least a year (hopefully more!). This studyblr is an attempt at accountability for myself :)

I majored in History and French as an undergraduate, and am attempting to self-study my way into being a well-rounded archaeologist to make up for my lack of scientific knowledge.

Pics from a few weeks back; a heart in my kiwi and a pretty and very pink (like fr it's not edited, it was that pink) tree :>

I spent half the day in bed with a light fever, and after lunch I went out to take a walk in the sun. Stretched, felt a bit better, and then danced when I came back. The rest of the day went by in a similar fashion, just watching yt, listening to music, more dancing, laying around.

I genuinely feel like I'm in some sort of rehab. Like, slowly going through the motions of living at a normal pace and having healthy thoughts about future plans and other areas of my life that aren't studying exams grades stress. It feels weird, and I feel kinda weak? Like physically weak and mentally exhausted in a way. It's all fucked up. It'll be ok.

Period cramps when I have stuff to do? I’m a Gallic warlord who took a sword to the side— it’s but a flesh wound! I must push on— one hand clamped to my side to slow the bleeding, one hand on the reigns of my horse, calling out to my men. We cannot let the Romans push further! They say our women and children, our fields and pastures will simply be taxed, but I’ve seen it for what it is: conquest and slavery. If we do not win, we will lose everything. Trying so hard to learn bones but my brain is not there. I feel that I often overestimate my capacity to memorize things, much to my detriment. The amount of work that goes into making flashcards makes me want to die, but like how else am I supposed to memorize all the bones and what they look like?

Feeling like I’m in over my head when it comes to this masters. All the other people in my program have like two years experience + multiple field schools under their belts and I’m over here with a BA in History and one excavation experience. WHAT AM I DOING

How is it that I can find some academic books on kindle for like $20 or less, but then the more hyper specific the content of the book, the more expensive it is?? like who can afford this?? this is why I pirate things like I’m sorry but if I’m going to be reading an incredibly specific and academic book I’m not going to spend more than $100 on it
