If your business can only be reached and all info about it only be accessed via Facebook or Instagram, know that it isn’t reachable or accessible AT ALL.
The whole metaverse can no longer be properly viewed without an account and I am definitely not making one just to see your contact info or opening hours.
Get a fucking WEBSITE. It can be just a static landing page with the relevant information. But get off the metaverse!

It’s so funny how like. Spock is queer bc of the subtext, the Otherness inextricable from his character, meanwhile William Shatner was handed the straightest man of all time on paper and fumbled the bag bc he couldn’t stop giving Leonard Nimoy fuck-me eyes and now he lives in a bi Kirk hell of his own devising, forever enduring the conshatquences of his shactions

hey, don't cry. fictional character in dire & perilous situations. ok?
Hi, its me. The warmest creature in the world. I love you. Im the warmest creature in the world and I love you so much and I need to be in your lap right now. Yes, I know about the heat wave. That's okay though because I was already the warmest creature in the world so I don't mind. I love you and you need to let me sleep in your lap right now. I'm soooo warm and I love you sooo much. If you say no you'll be saying no to a thing that love you. Let me sleep in your lap. When I fall asleep I get warmer. I love you

it's such bs that the whole guilt-ridden stoic self-sacrificing martyr thing doesn't work outside of fiction. repressing all your emotions and neglecting your physical wellbeing should make you god's most tragically beautiful morally unassailable little soldier of righteousness but all it does is give you bad skin and gastrointestinal problems
Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case
I like when the reviews for Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die are indistinguishable aside from the star rating
can I be radically honest for just one moment?
when I was writing the book, I thought it was normal.
TBH I also thought the book was pretty normal ... contextually.
Not like, in relation to other published books, mind you, but normal for something a queer person on tumblr who likes Terry Pratchett and video games where you get to fuck the werebear in full shift and The Murderbot Diaries would write.
Anyway, I've said before that my idea of a good indie movie (this also applies to other media) is one that panders shamelessly to a audience so niche it has most critics muttering, "Who is this even for?!" and I think this book accomplished that.
That's my recommendation, I suppose.
Hmmm. The blurb uses the word “transmogrifying” so, in addition to these compelling recommendations, that means I probably need to read it ….
I have read the book!
Weird, sure. But internally consistent!
I LOVED the “in which …” chapter titles. I’ve seen those used for humor before, but these are both funny and give fascinating emotional background to each chapter. Mostly it’s a small emotion that’s highlighted, but it adds so much depth to what happens next. Here’s the prologue title for example:
I also loved the way the tone of the book shifted rather gently from “this is a comedy“ to “this is a horror novel“. I don’t know that it actually was a horror novel? Definitely speculative fiction. Maybe horror lite? Too much of a happy ending for horror, but too far from Happy Ever After to be traditional comedy. But that inability to nail down “who is this book for“ is part of it charm!
The emotional drift of the story is Very Compelling. The slow breakdown of losing everything to get the one thing you want - and how that is happens differently for The Mad Sorcerer and for Sir Cameron. The grasping at bits of joy in the midst of chaos and confusion. The getting everything you wanted and it being confusing and different from what you pictured.

Queer Liberation Library has a copy, so you can get your free library card and find this book on Libby!Audiobook version also available.
Hey you know how I said I was going to make a workbook on the kind of bullshit you need to do when someone you love dies? I actually did that.
HERE IS THE VERSION WITH LOTS OF SWEARING AT THE USELESS, SHITTY SITUATION YOU’RE IN.
HERE IS THE VERSION WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF BLACK HUMOR BUT NO CURSEWORDS.
Featuring Helpful Sections such as:
Death Certificates – What you need, why you need them, and how to get them
Prepare to spend a long and miserable time on the phone
What the Everloving Fuck is Probate
Some Simple Dos and Don’ts
Shitty Mad Libs – Templates for writing Obituaries and Memorials
How to plan a non-religious death party
So you suddenly have to become some sort of hacker or some shit
This is an eighteen page book that you can print out, download, share, and give away; it is meant to be used to collect information about funeral planning and account management after a death OR you can use it BEFORE you die and give people information so they’re not stuck playing Nancy Fucking Drew while trying to keep seventeen cousins who crawled out of the woodwork from gutting each other in front of the fucking casket as they argue about who’s inheriting grandma’s favorite dentures.
It’s not exactly cheerful and it’s full of things that are probably going to feel really fucking raw if you’re processing a fresh death.
I’m sorry! I love you! Death is shitty! I’m trying to laugh about it a little and I hope you can laugh a little too because otherwise we’re all just going to cry together.
Good luck!
(in memory of my weirdo mother and her weirdo siblings who all died too fucking young and left me holding this flaming bag of dogshit)
This is so radically kind, thank you
You’re welcome!
Life is short, kindness is what we’ve got.
When my mom died it wasn’t exactly unexpected but it was still sooner than we all thought it would happen. It was a huge punch in the guts and the thought of making things and not being able to show her and share them with her still hurts but in that first month it was like drowning.
So I made this for her, and shared it with and showed it to other people who are hurting, because my momma didn’t raise a quitter but she sure did raise a softhearted fool who wants everyone to feel a little more loved and a little more worthy and a little less alone.
I love you. Take care. Be kind.
This is important, useful, and so very damn kind.
[ID: a series of images at the top of the post of different people looking distressed. The images say, “So you’re confronting your own morality. Preparing for the end. Or some dipshit up and died and now I’m stuck dealing with this mess.” /end ID]

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
