you can't even tell a fangirl "I hope your blond man suffers and dies" because she wants that to happen to him too
Baby sphinx trying to be like mama and waylaying travelers, but all its riddles are completely non-sensical like the ones a 1st grader would tell
the setting is also a character. many do not know this but its true. it has a history and a future and often an arc of its own, and the other characters all have personal relationships with it

Someone give that boy calming tea
My gf and I attended Neil Newbonās panel at Phx Fan Fusion today and we learned that a) he was the actor for the performance capture of both Minsc and Gortash (among others), b) he based Minscās mannerisms off of his own twin brother (sweet), but also c) he based Gortashās posture and behavior off of former US president Barack Obama

Wow! Hereās something incredibly personal.
This is Good Bi Gender. A comic I made to express some feelings I have about my gender. I donāt really have that much else to say about it. Here it is.
[Image Description: A digital comic made with sharp, angular abstract lines and only the colors white, blue, pink, and black. The featured character is all white, except for facial features and hair colors, which changes from panel to panel. The comic reads: Cover Panel: The text āGood Bi Genderā, the words colored with the trans flag. It shows a glitchy personās face, half pink and half blue. Panel 1: White text reads: āHello. My name is apparently irrelevant. And my pronouns are he/him and she/her. But you canāt call me she/her. And hereās why.ā Someone with a half-pink and half-blue shirt looks to the side. One eye is covered with hair, and the other eye is pink while the iris is blue.
Panel 2: The character sits happily, imagining facial hair and a masculine voice. āI donāt want top surgery. I love my chest. And I dream about being on testosterone someday soon.ā The character looks at a phone, frowning. The phone shows the male symbol with an āXā through it. Text next to it reads: āPeople donāt seem to think that the features I dream of are very pretty though⦠Or they think even worse of them than thatā¦ā
Panel 3: The characterās features are all pink, and sits in a blank frame. The character reaches over to a blue frame, frowning. āI donāt like the animosity. I really despise it.ā A photo of the character shows an all-blue frame and blue hair, with pink outlines and facial features. āTo be a boy⦠I aspire to be one. I aspire to be masculine in all its handsomeness. All its prettiness.ā Panel 4: The character sits in an all blue panel, but reaches back out to the pink panel. āAnd Iām still a girl too. I was so excited to have both. To love both. To have handsome femininity. Beautiful masculinity.ā The frames break and connect, and pink and blue swirl together. The character smiles in between the frames, with one pink eye and one blue eye. āSo excited. And yet I get askedā¦ā
Panel 5: Two hands hold out two different pills to the character, one blue and one pink. They ask āMale? or Female?ā using the male and female symbols. The character, facial features an array of pink and blue, looks between the two hands, distressed. āItās both! Iām both! Theyāre not opposites. Not narrow boxes. I say Iām both despite the insistence that I canāt be. And I know what I look like. I know I look like a girl to most. I know that if I say people can call me she, thatās all I will get from most. Because itās āeasierā. It āmakes more senseā. To have my masculinity, I am often forced to be unflinching in it and it alone. To never use she. Because if I donāt, I will never get to have he.ā [The words āsheā and āheā are italicized.] Panel 6: Text reads: āIām still very happy to be so comfortable in my identity. To know, despite all that, that I am indeed a boy and a girl and both. But you know. Telling people to only use he/him for me. Guarding my masculinity all just to have it. All at the expense of the part of me who is happily and unashamedly a girl.ā The character cries from one pink eye, the other hidden. The character holds a pink girl in a sea of blue, the girl crying out. In the midst of the blue, text reads: āWell, it fucking breaks her heart.ā End ID]
Edit: @starberry-skies wrote an ID for the comic, so I added it to the og post with its permission!
So this is not a plea for money. This is something that surprised me, and chatting with people on discord, they were unaware of as well.
Discovered last year I couldnāt look at my 2015 MacBook Air without it triggering nausea and migraines, and figured the screen died. Have been getting by on my phone, but concluded I really need a laptop again.
Saved up, realised I could afford a brand new MacBook Neo, and got one.
-And I couldnāt spend more than five minutes looking at the screen without massive eye strain, nausea, vertigo, and if I pushed it, I-need-to-lie-down-in-a-dark-room-for-hours migraines.
Looking up MacBook and Eyestrain explained what is going on. The liquid retina displays that Apple currently has uses Pulse Width Modulation or PWM. In order to give the screens a deeper depth of colour and contrast, PWM flickers between several hundred to thousand times a second.
And there is currently no way to turn it off. There are settings and apps to reduce it, but there is no way to stop the screen from flickering. Checked Apple forums, called Apple Support, and the time I could look at the screen kept shrinking. Got the laptop Tuesday, returned it Friday, today is Sunday and Iām still dealing with a vertigo migraine.
For MacBooks, it seems to vary on the computer model and the software it uses. In retrospect, the issue with my MacBook Air started after a major software update.
And itās not just an Apple thing. Current Windows and Android screens do the same thing. Thereās even a Reddit for people who are sensitive to PWM flickers to help find computers and screens that wonāt trigger eyestrain and headaches.
So, yeah. This week has been a learning experience. But for those who are prone to headaches and migraines, this may be something to be aware of, cause I was not.

The worst-sounding piece of advice I've ever been given that does actually work is to frame your health concerns as coming from someone close to you, whom you do not believe. Tell your doctor that you've been having pain and your mom/friend/partner thinks it might be an ovarian cyst, but you don't think so because the pain is much more intense and it has to be something else. This gives your doctor an unseen third party to fight instead of you. They can't just tell this third party, who isn't present, that you pulled a muscle, they now need to prove to this third party that it is not an ovarian cyst.
At which point they will find an ovarian cyst, but they now get whatever fucked up satisfaction they derive out of proving you wrong, because you didn't believe it could a cyst at all, but guess what? They did find a cyst! It's such a good thing you didn't listen to your intuition and came to them to verify your lay diagnosis from that third party! Bonus? Doctor doesn't have to feel like they look stupid in front of a patient, which is really what all this is about. Not your health, why would you think your medical diagnosis is about your health? It's obviously about a doctor's potential ego.
And apparently this works. Apparently you just need to be able to always play 4D chess with your medical professionals in order to find an avenue of advocating for yourself and getting you medical needs met. Isn't that great?
I hate it here, actually.
I've had a lot of success with "It's very unlikely to be x but considering my medical history and previous medical advice it's probably better to be safe then sorry you know? I'm expecting it to be (something minor) but don't want to be reckless with my health you know?" It's important to act reluctant to be there and that you think this is low key a waste of your time but you are trusting doctors more than yourself
And usually doctors immediately take the "of course you need to be checked out! That's the responsible thing to do!"
If they don't order testing adding on "I know it'll probably be nothing but can I get (test) or something to double check? I'd leave it but I've had a doctor tell me this sort of thing needs that and id like the confirmationwhen (relative) fusses at me"
this line delivery has lived in my head for 10 years
